Minecraft 1.19: What’s New in the Wild Update

Launched on June 7, 2022, Minecraft 1.19 is the latest version of this fantastic game, and with the title ‘Wild Update’, it focuses on new biomes, mobs and adding a massive new range of blocks to the game.

As with all Minecraft updates, this one has been in development for a while and looks set to add a wide range of new features while keeping the quality we all love, so before you start your next adventure in the Wild Update, let’s take a look at all that it has to offer!

The Wild Update, or Minecraft 1.19, gives you two types of wild adventuring to explore the new swamp biome with its huge mango trees, as well as just enjoy the outdoor life, or head into the Deep Dark biome, with new mobs and a sense of danger around every corner. Whichever you choose it’s going to be an exciting time to play!

New Mobs

This new update brings with it several mobs that give new life to your adventure. This first is the now familiar warden, huge, dangerous and found all over the new Deep Dark biodome, so be careful when exploring! The warden is blind, but uses sounds to find you, and when it does, it has 250 hearts, so it takes some stopping.

It can disable Minecraft shields and in hard mode each hit is 22.5 hearts, so use snowballs and other tricks to avoid it where you can, as it will follow the sound made where they land.

Another brand-new mob in the game with this update is the Frog. This is a passive animal that loves to eat slime, and can be found in the completely redesigned swamp biome. There are three types of frogs, snowy, swamp and tropical, as well as tadpoles, which are young frogs and can turn into any of the three.

If you feed two frogs a slimeball, they will enter love mode and one will become pregnant. You will need a water tile to lay the frogspawn, and from there you can grow new frogs. You can even take tadpoles to other biomes and start a new colony of frogs in your favorite spot!

The last new mob introduced in Minecraft 1.19 is the Allay, which will collect items for you and is a really useful helper. Small and blue, it is similar to a fairy, but has different wings, like a bat. If you give the Allay an item, it will search the nearby area for any items of the same type that have been dropped in the world.

New Features

Aside from the new mobs and that exciting Deep Dark Biome, there have been several new features added. One of the most fun is Mud!

Pour water onto dirt and you get a mud block. You can turn it into mud bricks if you want, a great new way to build, or you can place the mud onto a dripstone, and you will end up with clay.

Mangrove trees don’t just look great, they can be harvested for a new type of wood, so they are well worth checking out when you head into the new swamp biome.

The update also includes wider rivers than we are used to, and it will be easier to take a trip in your boat now. In addition, boats will have chests for storage too, making them more useful and more fun.

New Blocks

With a new biome, a complete revamp on an old one, the swamp, new mobs and so much more, as you might guess, there are a whole load of new blocks to enjoy too.

There are several mangrove blocks that come with the swamp and deep dark biomes, including a mangrove log and stripped log, wood and stripped wood, roots and muddy roots. These give you new possibilities for making things and will give you plenty to explore and try out.

Mud is finally here! With mud comes mud blocks, packed mud blocks, mud bricks that are made from packed mud, and mud brick blocks that you can use to make walls, slabs and stairs.

Also new are sculk blocks. These are ground blocks you can find in the new Deep Dark biome, and include the basic sculk block, a sculk Catalyst block that causes the sculk to spread if a mob dies near it, and the sculk shrieker, which senses noise and lets a warden know where you are, definitely one to avoid if you can!

Finally, we have the Froglight block. If you feed a frog a small magma cube, you will create a Froglight block.

What’s changed for you?

With all this new stuff, you have a lot of different things to do and explore in the Wild Update. The new biome, Deep Dark, not only includes those wardens you want to avoid if you can, but you can also find some massive ancient cities in them too. While no one has finished exploring them yet, there seems to be a chance that at the center of these ruins are more secrets to be uncovered. The question is, will you survive the wardens and sculk long enough to find out?

Those sculk shrieker blocks will emit a loud screech if they are activated and bring darkness to everything nearby. They are likely to bring wardens, so exploring the Deep Dark really is a scary and tense experience.

Other introductions such as mud and new types of wood are great for building, and you could become a frog breeder with the new types of frogs introduced this time too.

As with every update, Minecraft 1.19 The Wild Update brings new things to see, do and explore, adding more fun to your favorite game and giving you new options for everything you love doing in game.

With its new biome, a completely redone swamp and the addition of the frightening wardens, this is a big update that really does add a lot to the game, and I know that you are going to have a lot of fun uncovering the secrets of the Deep Dark.
