ARK is one of those survival games when night becomes fiercer than day. At this moment of the day, the players can expect to have more difficult challenges as their vision becomes limited and the spawn would be more abundant.
The night is also colder in ARK, which also increases the difficulty of surviving. And don’t forget about the ambushes, they often happen at night. Seeing how the nighttime can be pretty difficult to deal with especially for beginners, the server admins can change the time in ARK so that the day will become longer and the night shorter.
And yes, it’s definitely possible for them to do so. In fact, so many servers are starting to use this rule to gain popularity. The players can find it easier to find in a server when the day is longer as they can farm more easily without being worried about getting lost in the middle of nowhere when the night comes.
So, how long is a day in ARK? By default, the day takes around 40 minutes in real-time, while the night is 20 minutes. Although the duration is shorter, the ARK night is known to be dangerous due to the increased chance of creature spawns along with the ambushes.
Now, some of you are probably asking about, “how to make it daytime in ark”, and in this article, we will give you a tutorial on how to change time in ARK server.
How To Change ARK Day And Night Cycle
The settings located inside ARK allow you to change what the day and night cycle is according to your preference. You can also set it up that one real-life 24h.
The first step is to go to Scalacube.com and log in to your account.
Click on "Servers" and then click on "Manage server"
Click "Manage" again.
Turn off your server by clicking on "Turn off" and wait for the process to finish.
Click on "Settings".
Locate "GameUserSettings.ini" and enter it.
Find "DayCycleSpeedScale", "DayTimeSpeedScale" and "NightTimeSpeedScale".
DayCycleSpeedScale setting controls how often the day changes to night and the night changes to day. Values lower than the default 1 slow down the cycle, and higher values accelerate it.
If you want it to match real-life hours, change it to 0.035.
DayTimeSpeedScale setting controls the passage of time during the day. It determines the length of each day. Lowering it will increase the length of the day.
NightTimeSpeedScale setting controls the passage of time during the night. It determines the length of each night. Lowering it will increase the length of the night.
Once the changes are set, click on "Change" and "Reboot" your server.

You can basically do it by following our method above. Changing the day and night cycle in ARK is as easy as changing the slider. If you want to make the night shorter than it is, you can slide the cycle to a higher amount. For example, change it to 3.0, and this will make the night a lot faster than it was.
Now, to make the day lasts longer, you can adjust the scale to the lower amounts. If you set it to 0.2, the day will last for at least a couple of hours.
By default, a day in ARK lasts for 60 minutes, consisting of 40 minutes day and 20 minutes night.
Yeah, of course you can. It is as simple as sliding the particular day or night cycle to a higher or lower amount depending on your goals. If you want to set the day longer, you can put it below 1, like 0.5 or even 0.2. This can make the day lasts for above an hour, which is more than enough for you to farm and explore any parts of the map you haven’t visited before.
