If you’ve been planning to venture into the Mistlands, it’s important to ensure you have the right weapons and equipment to hand - and one exciting addition that came with the rollout of the Mistlands update was the introduction of numerous unique magical weapons. Just one such example of this was the Staff of Embers in Valheim, a unique Elemental Magic weapon that can potentially be incredibly useful for your gameplay (as well as simply being an awesome-looking bit of gear). But what is the Staff of Embers in Valheim, and how do you craft it? Well, we’ve outlined everything you need to know as follows to help.
First of all, we need to consider what the Staff of Embers is in Valheim; after all, it’s not exactly the most obvious of weapons to understand at a glance. Fortunately, the Staff of Embers isn’t too tricky to understand. At its simplest, the Staff of Embers is a type of Elemental Magic weapon that resembles a large wooden staff with a burning core. It is also the most powerful type of Elemental staff, dealing a massive 120 blunt damage and 120+ fire damage. Compared to the other types of Elemental staff, this makes the Staff of Embers exceptionally powerful overall. The Staff of Embers gives out orange-red light and is a two-handed weapon, meaning you won’t be able to use a shield alongside the Staff of Embers.
The Staff of Embers in Valheim is crafted at the Galdr table from twenty Yggdrasil wood, four Surtling cores, and sixteen refined Eitr. These aren’t the easiest materials to find in the game, so this is definitely worth keeping in mind while you explore the world of Valheim, and critically within the Mistlands biome.
Indeed, Yggdrasil wood can only be obtained from the Yggdrasil shoots that grow in the biome. Meanwhile, Surtling cores are primarily found dropped by Surtlings, which are found within the Swamp biome. Finally, you’ll need sap and soft tissue to craft refined Eitr; this can be found within the Mistlands biome, usually.
The Staff of Embers works using 35 Eitr, releasing a fireball that arcs around the caster and either deals direct strike damage or explodes and results in an area of effect. This makes it an incredibly useful tool for tackling foes, in particular for taking on large groups at once; however, it may be a little less useful against individual foes as the fireball isn’t the easiest to aim.
The Staff of Embers is made from Yggdrasil wood, Surtling cores, and refined Eitr. These materials can be found in the Mistlands and Swamps.
The Staff of Embers is an incredibly powerful weapon in Valheim, dealing 120 base blunt damage. Unfortunately, the amount of blunt damage dealt by the Staff of Embers is the same irrespective of whether you have upgraded the weapon.
When fully upgraded, the Staff of Embers can deal up to 138 fire damage. This requires you to upgrade the Staff of Embers to Level 4 at a Level 4 Galdr table.
No. As a two-handed weapon, the Staff of Embers will use both of your hands to wield. As a result, you cannot carry a torch with it. Fortunately, since the staff glows, you may not need a torch as badly anyway.
When it comes to your game, ensuring your character has the right gear and equipment is paramount. Indeed, without the right weapons, you’re unlikely to make it far in the game - and by the time you’re taking on the Mistlands, you absolutely need to have a good load-out of weapons to successfully navigate the world. As part of this, the Staff of Embers proves itself as an excellent choice of magical weapon thanks to its impressive damage stats. Given this, you may want to consider investing in your own Elemental Magic skill, too.
