The Staff of Frost is undoubtedly a unique type of Elemental Weapon in Valheim, making it a useful option to consider. Therein, today, we’re delving into what the Valheim Staff of Frost is and how it works to help you decide if you’d like to use it in your game - and, critically, how to craft the Staff of Frost. Hopefully, this will help you decide whether the Staff of Frost could be a good weapon for your needs.
First of all, we need to look at what the Staff of Frost is. The Staff of Frost falls into a unique category of magic weapons using Elemental Magic, with each weapon using a different type of element to deal damage. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this means that the Staff of Frost deals elemental frost damage.
The Staff of Frost resembles a wooden staff with a glowing ice-blue crystal at the end of it. This makes it relatively similar to the Staff of Embers, which also features a staff and glowing crystal design. However, the Staff of Frost is much simpler in its overall design, although it still offers a notably iconic and unique look that’s well worth considering. After all, once you’ve invested in premium Valheim hosting for your game with 24/7 uptime and plenty of server room for both you and your party, looking your best with an iconic-looking weapon is a great way to show your friends just how powerful your character is. The Staff of Frost deals 30 frost damage, increasing to a maximum of 36 frost damage. To achieve this, it has an Eitr requirement of 5. The Staff of Frost also has a block armor score of 48-72, a block force of 20, knockback of 10, and a parry bonus of x2. As a result, it’s potentially well worth using the Staff of Frost if you’re a magic user.
If you think the features of the Staff of Frost make it seem like a valuable option for your character, you may well want to consider crafting this excellent weapon. But what does the Staff of Frost actually need to craft?
There are three core materials that you’ll need to craft the Staff of Frost: twenty Yggdrasil wood, four Freeze glands, and sixteen refined Eitr. In addition, if you decide to upgrade the Staff of Frost after building the first one, you’ll need additional Yggdrasil wood, Freeze glands, and Refined Eitr for each level of upgrade.
As with the Staff of Embers, the main material for the Staff of Frost is Yggdrasil wood, which can be harvested from Yggdrasil roots within the Mistlands biome. In addition, you’ll need Freeze Glands, which can be obtained by slaying Drakes in the Mountains, and Refined Eitr, which you’ll need to craft from sap and soft tissue using the Eitr Refinery.
The Staff of Frost is an incredibly useful weapon and definitely worth considering for your own game of Valheim. However, it’s also worth asking: how does it compare to the other types of Elemental Magic weapons in the game?
Well, it’s hard to give a clear answer to whether the Staff of Frost is better than other Elemental Magic weapons, as it tends to differ quite significantly from some of the other options. Of course, the first point of note is the damage dealt. For this metric, the Staff of Frost is relatively weaker in terms of base damage dealt, only dealing 30 frost damage. This differs from the Staffs of Embers, the Wild, and Fracturing and the Dundr, which all deal more damage in a single round. In fact, the Staff of Frost deals the lowest amount of damage of all Elemental staff types in the game.
Along a similar line of thought, the Staff of Frost also deals vastly lower knockback than the other types of weapons in the game. Given this, not only does the staff deal less damage than the other Elemental Magic weapons, but it’ll also cause less knockback - allowing your foes a quicker recovery.
However, the trade off here comes in terms of Eitr use. Indeed, the other staffs all require vastly more Eitr to use. In contrast, the Eitr requirement of the Staff of Frost is much lower at just 5, making it an excellent weapon for those who don’t have access to many Eitr increasing foods yet.
Yes. In terms of base damage, the Staff of Frost is a lot weaker than the other Elemental Magic weapons. However, it uses far less Eitr, which makes it more comparable on a damage per Eitr basis.
The Staff of Frost requires three types of materials to craft: Yggdrasil wood, refined Eitr, and Freeze Glands. These can be found in the Mistlands and Mountain biomes and crafted using the Eitr refinery.
If you’ve been looking to add a new Elemental Magic weapon to your arsenal in Valheim, there’s a lot you’ll need to consider - and notably, which type of Elemental Magic weapon suits your needs best is one such important consideration. After all, with several different types of Elemental Magic staff available, knowing which is best for you isn’t necessarily easy - but luckily, today’s guide will hopefully have helped you make this all-important decision.
