Crafting new weapons as you progress through a game of Valheim is incredibly important; indeed, this simple process will directly influence your success with a game. Needless to say, without upgrading your weapons, you’ll struggle to make progress as you begin making it into the latter stages of the game. As part of this, it’s well worth knowing about the different types of weapons in Valheim - such as the SpineSnap bow - and how to craft these in your game. Luckily, today, we’re looking at what the Spine Snap bow is and how to make this excellent bow in Valheim.
With a name like the “Spine Snap bow,” it’s perhaps no surprise to learn that the SpineSnap bow is one of the most powerful bows in all of Valheim. This unique bow is unlocked in the Eitr Age that the game itself describes as, which occurs in the Mistlands and is made in the Black Forge. The weapon is a two-handed bow that emits light and is effective both for attacking and for parrying.
As the second-last bow you’ll be able to make in the game, it’s perhaps not a shock to learn just how powerful the Spine Snap bow is. Indeed, with a base piercing damage of 72 and a base spirit damage of 5, it’s safe to say that this particular bow is incredibly strong. In addition, it also has a 3x backstab ability and deals 72 in stagger and 25 knockback, further contributing to the bow’s overall impressive power. Keep in mind, though, that the stamina requirements are 14 per second, more than most other bows.
By now, we’ve considered what the SpineSnap bow is and its basic features. However, we still need to delve into how to make a Valheim SpineSnap bow specifically. Don’t worry - for such a high-level weapon, it’s actually surprisingly easy. Indeed, the Valheim Spine Snap bow only needs three types of materials, and these aren’t as hard to get hold of as you might expect: Ten fine wood, which can be found from birch and oak trees. These naturally spawn in the Meadows biome at the start of the game and the Plains biome later on. Thus, after choosing your premium ScalaCube Valheim hosting plan, allowing full access with 24/7 connection and no lag to your game, it’s important to start collecting this fine wood early on. Forty bone fragments, which are dropped by skeletons after death. These can also be found in Rancid Remains. A skeleton will always drop at least one bone fragment, although 1-star and 2-star skeletons can drop two and four fragments respectively.
Ten refined Eitr, unique materials made in the Eitr refinery from sap and soft tissue. You’ll need a sap refinery before you can use sap to make refined Eitr. It’s worth pointing out here that the SpineSnap bow is not made at the workbench, as is common for many low-level bows. Instead, the Spine Snap bow is built using the Black Forge, which is built from ten black marble, ten Yggdrasil wood, and five black cores. Fortunately, you’ll only need a crafting and repairing level 1 with the Black Forge to successfully make a SpineSnap bow.
The basic SpineSnap bow is made from ten fine wood, forty bone fragments, and ten refined Eitr. However, you can upgrade the Spine Snap Bow for additional fine wood and bone fragments, the number of materials increasing with each subsequent level.
Overall, the Spine Snap bow is generally considered to be a better weapon than the Draugr Fang bow, given its vastly higher piercing damage. However, if you have a foe that’s specifically weak to poison, you may want to use the Draugr Fang bow instead which can deal up to 20 poison damage.
The Spine Snap bow is crafted at the Black Forge. Black Forges are used for a wide array of Mistlands crafting.
The SpineSnap bow deals two types of damage: piercing and spirit damage. It also causes backstab bonuses, stagger, and knockback.
Before venturing into the very latest game zones, ensuring you’ve got a bow that’s capable of protecting you properly is essential. After all, the latest zones come packed with a huge range of potentially terrifying enemies to come up against, and with this in mind, equipping yourself properly to ensure you have plenty of protection is hugely important. However, knowing which weapons to choose may not always be the easiest decision, and even more notably, working out how to craft them can be even trickier.
Fortunately, today’s guide should have given you some ideas on where to start with making a Valheim Spine Snap bow. Hopefully, this weapon will help your late-game adventures go smoothly in turn.
