Gears of War fans hold onto your Lancers—something big might be brewing! While waiting for the remaster, speculation surrounding Gears of War has recently picked up. This hope stems from Spencer's recently unlocking achievements for both Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3. Fans are praying for a Marcus Fenix Collection, and fingers crossed, there just might be hope.
Years ago, a remastered Gears of War collection started gaining traction and became a running joke in the community. Although no one believed it, there were industry insiders suggesting The Coalition was even working on a Halo: Chief Collection-styled one. As of now, only the first game in the franchise has been remastered into the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which was released in 2015, and with the remaining games not being touched, it is no wonder that the community longed for something newer than the old sequels that we have grown too accustomed to.
Ever since the last summer game fest, the community's excitement for the franchise has been skyrocketing after the revealing of Gears of War: E-Day, which is a prequel that takes place before the original trilogy. E-Day is also set to be released in 2025, which gives hope to fans of the series when Xbox is likely looking to spring a remaster of the entire collection for a new generation of players to enjoy.
Rumors always generate hype and speculation, and keeping up with Phil Spencer’s Xbox moves feels just like that. Keeping track of Xbox news, Phil Spencer is coming out with his new Xbox's Developer Direct showcase. The hype with that is relatively small, but everyone is waiting for Summer Game Fest this June, where a long-earning Gears of War collection might just get confirmed.
If real, it will likely focus on the original trilogy, but details remain unconfirmed.
If it is happening, Summer Game Fest in June seems like the best time for an official reveal.
Fans expect both, but it depends on how much effort The Coalition puts into the remastering process.
