The next Battlefield will get its own battle royale mode available for free-to-play when Ripple Effect Studios releases the game in the fall of 2025. The new mode was created with Call of Duty: Warzone's success in mind as it introduces a modern approach to large-scale combat while aiming to revive the series.
The next BF game will bring back 64-player gameplay and the classic four-class gameplay mechanics that true fans have requested to see again. The storyline takes place between 2025 and 2030 and follows a conflict between NATO forces against an impressive private military company offering a modern warfare experience like in BF4. A battle royale mode will offer a tropical USA map, which provides an active playing field that captivates players.
The developers have also added Gauntlet as a new gameplay mode apart from the core battle royale mode. The Gauntlet mode adds objectives to team-based gameplay through missions where losing teams are eliminated after each round, thus introducing strategy to the game. The developers have implemented this two-part system to support different players' preferences and maintain an exciting gaming experience throughout the game.
The upcoming release of the game is set for October 2025, while community testers will start during the earlier year period. The current development reports indicate that Battlefield will regain its position within the current competitive shooter market as DICE is going all in to ensure players will get what they've been missing since the past few BF releases.
