The iOS version of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles received its termination from Square Enix because of an unrecoverable bug. According to player reports, the company linked the purchasing difficulties to recent modifications in the in-app purchase system. The detected bug proved insolvable for Square Enix so the company made the decision to abandon support for iOS platforms.
Apple Support provides refunds to users who purchased in-app content on the App Store starting from January 2024 until present. The game functions independently with all Android devices as well as PlayStation consoles and Nintendo Switch systems. Square Enix keeps following a pattern of discontinuing its mobile titles where. Final Fantasy: Brave Exviusv Dissidia, Final Fantasy Opera Omnia, and Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier joined the list of cancelled games because player engagement steadily decreased.
Square Enix documented market-wide mobile game net sales declines of 32% during its last financial report but maintained higher mobile profits than console or PC games, while MMOs earned the most revenue.
