Pokémon GO will stop working on 32-bit Android devices according to the recent statement from Niantic. This change is set to occur in two phases: The support for Nintendo platforms will stop for players who received Pokémon GO through the Samsung Galaxy Store in March 2025 and for those who obtained it from the Google Play Store, this service change will roll out in June 2025. Niantic wants to simplify its development efforts by ending support for 32-bit devices. Affected devices will receive access bans to players' Pokémon GO profiles including their PokéCoins and items after the update goes live. Gamers must switch to a compatible 64-bit Android or iOS device from now on. Niantic expected performance enhancements through development streamlining since they withdrew support for 32-bit Android systems. Most Android users operate 64-bit devices after leaving behind their old 32-bit systems.
Pokémon GO support on devices from the Samsung Galaxy Store will terminate in phases starting in March 2025 and finish in June 2025 for Google Play Store downloads.
Almost every Android device manufactured before 2015 utilized 32-bit architecture. The majority of devices equipped with 4GB of RAM are 64-bit models.
To play Pokémon GO you must move to a device which supports 64-bit Android or iOS systems. Users must store their login information before making the transition to access their account on their new device.
iOS users face no impact from this change so they require no steps to maintain service.
