Just a week into the early access launch, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is already making waves. It sold more than 600,000 copies on Steam, earning a 'Very Positive' user review rating based on more than 13,000 reviews.
Dragonwilds is a co op survival adventure set in the forgotten continent of Ashenfall, where players fight the Dragon Queen, fighting back using gathered resources, building shelters, and crafting gear. Anima is a transformative magic system that the game introduces, giving players the power to perform feats like summoning a spectral axe that you can use to instantly fell a tree, or healing damaged armor with nature's energy. At its core, this combines survival mechanics with RPG elements and has been compared to games like Valheim, but with a RuneScape twist. Even though the modding community only recently released the mod, the quality of life has already been improved.
Resizable scaling has been added to a new settings interface, which also includes customizable color options and better ground item visibility controls. These additions supplement gameplay, making changes based on player feedback.
According to Jagex, this momentum will continue with a full release in 2026. Dragonwilds is a community-driven game and strongly desires to maintain that drive with regular updates that will propel the game's progression with the growing community.
During the first week of early access, Steam sold over 600,000 copies.

Jagex will continue releasing the title early, with an eye toward a full release in 2026.
