Poppy Playtime Developer sues Google

Mob Entertainment who developed Poppy Playtime has lodged a legal complaint against Google as well as developer Daigo Game 2020, Inc. as unauthorized versions of their games appeared on the Google Play Store. The lawsuit, filed in a California federal court, accuses Daigo of releasing counterfeit apps titled Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3 and Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4 are alleged to contain protected content from the original Poppy Playtime games according to Mob Entertainment.
These unauthorized applications deceived users by showing official game screenshots which directed them to buy a Guide wuggy playtime mod through a link which was priced between $30 to $95.
Google still hasn't permanently discontinued these apps, despite Mob Entertainment issuing multiple DMCA requests for their removal. According to legal documents, the Chapter 3 app disappeared from store listings at the end of 2024 but quickly returned afterwards and now both Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 apps are available for download on Play Store.
Through the lawsuit, Mob Entertainment demands damages of $150,000 per infringing work while also seeking a request against future distribution of the unauthorized applications.
