Phasmophobia has cleared a great milestone as it has sold more than 3 million copies on PlayStation, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X/S between the consoles’ release in October 2024. That success is also all the more commendable if we consider that the console version of the game was released without voice recognition, which plays its most significant role in the ghost-hunter gameplay. However, that was fixed in the Phasmophobia February 2025 update, thus adding consoles with voice command functionality and enhancing immersion.
Kinetic Games is maintaining momentum with big updates planned throughout the year 2026 for Phasmophobia. The upcoming Chronicle update will redesign evidence collection, replacing the simple Photos tab with a Media tab for photos, video, and sound clips. A new Sound Recorder application will allow the players to record and examine ghost audio.
Player customization is underway with new character models and animations, and full customization is expected next year. The Bleasdale Farmhouse has been rebuilt with a new layout and better visuals, and Grafton is slated for a similar upgrade. A new small map is also being created.
Seasonal events and persistent patches create new content until the ambitious Horror 2.0 in 2026. That revamp will likely bring new ghost models and gameplay features, completing the early access period. With all these updates lined up, the future of Phasmophobia on consoles is by no means dead.
The game was released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in late October 2024.
Initially, it didn't, but it was added in a February 2025 update for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
It’s a forthcoming update that reshapes our evidence collection with a new Media tab and a Sound Recorder tool.
A big overhaul introducing new ghost events, models, and gameplay mechanics is planned for 2026.
