It’s time to dust off those Spirit Boxes, console ghost hunters—Phasmophobia’s long-awaited voice recognition feature has finally arrived on PS5 and Xbox!
Since Phasmophobia console release last October, players have been braving haunted locations without the ability to talk to ghosts (a core mechanic that made the PC version so terrifying). But now, after months of waiting, Kinetic Games has officially rolled out voice recognition on consoles, letting players whisper (or scream) into their mics to interact with the Ouija Board, Spirit Box, and even the Monkey Paw.
Despite missing this key feature at launch, console players haven’t been scared away. Phasmophobia has already sold two million copies on consoles, bringing total sales to a jaw-dropping 22 million across all platforms. Now, with voice recognition in place, it’s time to see if you can handle the pressure when the ghost actually responds.
This update is just the beginning. Kinetic Games recently shared their 2025 roadmap, promising map reworks, new ghost-hunting gear, seasonal events, and even a brand-new location to explore (and probably die in).
So grab your crucifix, check the EMF levels, and—most importantly—watch your words and play Kinetic games. Because now, the ghosts are listening.
Yes! PS5 and Xbox players can finally use voice recognition to interact with the Spirit Box, Ouija Board, and Monkey Paw.
Just speak into your mic! The game detects your voice, letting you communicate with ghosts using key phrases for equipment responses.
Kinetic Games plans map reworks, new ghost-hunting gear, a brand-new location, and exciting seasonal events throughout 2025.
