Imagine yourself as a kid whose parents have banned them from playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time because of its ratings.
This happened with Reddit user kylez_bad_caverns, who wrote a letter to Sony asking them to make a more family-friendly Prince of Persia game and the tech giant responded to the netizen.
Fast forward 20 years later. The fan letter resurfaced when kylez_bad_caverns’mom found the letter dated May 20, 2004. It may be a standard corporate response but, for the child, it's a treasure. kylez_bad_caverns, speaking with the media, explained that their parents wouldn’t let them play The Sands of Time due to its Teen rating, so they asked Sony for an E-rated version of the hit prince of persia game. The game never saw the light never happened, but at least the company replied!
The Reddit community had a field day on the post. Some users joked about whether kylez_bad_caverns also wrote to Ubisoft (the actual developer of Prince of Persia), to which a Reddit user admitted that he didn't know how these things worked/. Others wondered if they ever got to play The Sands of Time. Thankfully, they confirmed they finally experienced the classic as an adult.
This isn’t the only nostalgic gaming discovery making waves lately. A fan came across a rare PS2 bundle featuring LEGO Batman: The Videogame at their father's house.
A young gamer asked Sony to create a family-friendly, E-rated Prince of Persia game after their parents banned them from playing The Sands of Time.
Nope, but they did send a polite response to the fan’s letter, which resurfaced 20 years later.
The Reddit user played the classic game as an adult and got to experience the classic for themselves.
