After many months, Fallout 76 is finally testing one of the features fans have requested for years, which is called fishing. Those who cannot wait until the new year can now head to a new location in the Mire called Fisherman's Rest and begin their angling journey now live on the Public Test Server (PTS). The Casting Off quest introduces players to three new characters: Captain Raymond Clark, The Fisherman, and a giant hermit crab called Linda-Lee.
Fishing actually isn't as simple a mini game as one might expect. There are several types of bait to use, and Radstorms affect what type of fish are in the water to catch (or glowing, etc. variants). Caught fish can be cooked in new recipes such as grilled fish, which reduces the time to hook fish from 20 minutes, or eaten for various health benefits.
This is another step in Fallout 76's evolution since it was released to a troubled start in 2018. Bethesda has been steadily improving the game, generally in the form of features such as the option to play as a ghoul or expanded map. The fishing update is part of a much bigger update detailing other changes in the game, such as perk rebalancing and limb damage adjustments, which all provide a slightly updated take on the game.
Players who are interested in trying out the new fishing feature can access the PTS by installing the Fallout 76 Public Test Server through their Steam library. However, the progress accomplished in the PTS does not transfer to the live game.

If fishing challenges and daily quests still exist, then yes.
The release date is set for June 2025, as Bethesda said.
