According to multiple industries, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be remade and released in April 2025. It goes along with Bethesda officially announcing they would be revealing the game on April 22, 2025, at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET during a livestream on their Twitch and YouTube channels.
NateTheHate and Jez Corden are of the opinion that the game might be a shadow drop very soon after the announcement, cutting as much of the time in between as possible. If true, this would be a huge shift from Bethesda’s typical marketing strategy.
According to rumors, the remake is a mixture between a remaster and a full remake. The Virtuos studio, responsible for a number of remasters, is working on the game using Unreal Engine 5. With this, the gamers would enjoy greater graphics, better lighting, and superior environmental detail, making it so Cyrodiil will be alive as it was never seen before.
Some gameplay enhancements are also expected. There have also allegedly been leaks of new combat mechanics, refined AI behavior, and redesigned UI. The goal of said updates is to bring the game more in line with modern gaming while still keeping the spirit that made the original so iconic.
A remake is set to come to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate launch support. This release could be a bridge to the fans awaiting The Elder Scrolls VI, in which they can receive a renovated experience of a beloved title.
