Electronic Arts is announcing a significant reorganization at BioWare Studios as it pivots the work entirely toward the development of the next Mass Effect game. EA appears to have reassigned some BioWare employees to new teams, as reported by IGN, but it’s ensuring that Mass Effect 5 remains the primary focus of its studio.
The move comes on the heels of BioWare’s recent attempts to revitalize its big-name franchises, especially after the lukewarm reception to Anthem and the warm but controversial reception to Mass Effect: Andromeda. With Dragon Age: Dreadwolf still in development, the decision from EA signals a turning point for BioWare’s strategy for the long term, which focuses solely to ensure Mass Effect 5 gloves have the very good quality experience the fans are expecting
Little is known just yet about Mass Effect 5, but the development team has teased a return to the series’ core mechanics, such as strong narrative elements and deep RPG gameplay systems. Fans remain cautiously optimistic and looking forward to further announcements, wishing that the game can not only recapture the original trilogy magic but also bring some new gameplay aspects.
In this case, EA has left BioWare with a lot on its plate by moving some of its developers away from the never dungeon.
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is currently in development but some employees of BioWare were reassigned by EA for more efficient production processes.
Its exact storyline is murky, but developers have teased that it ties back to both the original trilogy and Andromeda.
There's currently no release date, but expect more news in the coming month
