Ever since the disappointing sales and hype of EA’s last BF installment, Criterion Games, the studio behind the Need for Speed, is now fully focused on working on the next installment of the Battlefield franchise. This shift means there won’t be a new Need for Speed title for the foreseeable future. However, EA reassures its fanbase that NFS will return, but there is no timeline for its comeback.
The statement from the head of the Battlefield franchise, Vince Zampella, indicates that EA spent the past year collecting Need for Speed player feedback to improve their latest NFS Unbound. He also stated that EA is eager to listen to its NFS fanbase to collect and use that feedback to implement it in its supposed next NFS title. Although the franchise is on hold, EA is striving to bring it back fresh and in exciting ways.
