There's great news for the fans of the critically acclaimed action shooter "Doom" because the highly awaited installment "Doom: The Dark Ages" will not be the final chapter in the demon-slaying saga we all know and love.
Developers id Software released the action-packed doom the dark ages trailer in June last year. The extended look delighted fans with some insane combat sequence with an arsenal of brutal weapons inflicting damage. The good news is that it won't be a Swan Song.
The company's creative director, Hugo Martin, confirmed that the game won't be a period at the end of a sentence. This means that Doom lovers can expect Doom Slayer to continue its path of destruction in creative ways for years for years to come.
Martin added that the team is brainstorming ideas on how to keep the series fresh while staying true to its chaotic, blood-soaked roots. After Doom Eternal introduced fans to the "combat chess" feature, The Dark Ages is going back to basics and focusing on raw, unrelenting action in future editions.
Here's a fun fact: doom the dark ages’ development was inspired by Batman: Year One and the prototype name, Slayer: Year One, pays homage to the iconic comic with the team drawing inspiration from Batman's early crime-fighting days. Even the Slayer's demeanor was influenced by The Dark Knight Returns.
So, while The Dark Ages takes us back to the Slayer's origins. Doom the dark ages release date has not been released yet but it's clear that id Software has no plans to hang up the Praetor Suit.
Doom: The Dark Ages will be released in 2025
Doom: The Dark Ages will be made available on PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S exclusively.
It is the prequel to the critically acclaimed Doom (2016) and Doom: Eternal games.
