The publisher of Drug Dealer Simulator, Movie Games, has confirmed that it is looking into an investigation of Schedule 1 for potential copyright infringement. However, the company maintains that it has no ill will towards Schedule 1's sole developer, TVGS, as the probe continues.
Movie Games said in a statement that in the absence of investigation, it would have been 'negligent' and that its preliminary analysis suggested that 'the two games are very similar.' Both titles are focused on player-building drug empires from the ground up, and as such, both titles feature fairly comparable mechanics and progression systems. Unlike the Drug Dealer Simulator, the duck is given a sillier and more cartoon look on Schedule 1.
However, players have started blasting the investigation, leading to negative reviews for the Drug Dealer Simulator on Steam. With Schedule 1 rising to the top of Steam's charts in such a short span of time, the probe has been viewed by some fans as an effort to squash the competition. Movie Games acknowledged contact with TVGS but reported no further communication.
Movie Games has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and no legal action has been started. TVGS was the target of the company’s desire to engage in discussions before determining further steps.
Well, this is an ongoing investigation. There's no lawsuit yet.
Preliminary analysis by Movie Games found the games “very similar.”
The initial contact was confirmed by TVGS; there was no follow-up from Movie Games.
As such, a lot of players are critical, this results in a lot of bad reviews for drug dealer simulator.
