The March 20 release of Assassin's Creed Shadows managed to attract more than 2 million players during its first two days on the market. This impressive feat surpasses the initial launches of both Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
Through social media channels, Ubisoft thanked their community for the launch day success which drew over 1 million players.
The game achieved its highest level of popularity on Steam through its peak at nearly 59,000 concurrent players, which set a new record on PC. The game's player counts surpassed previous titles, as Origins reached only 41,000, and Valhalla did slightly better at 47,000 when it launched.
Multiple aspects explain why Shadows achieved its success. Fans eagerly requested the Feudal Japan setting, which finally materialized in the game to give players a fresh, immersive experience.
