Good news, Assassin’s Creed fans! Users can now play Assassins Creed Valhalla and Assassins Creed Origins on Windows 11 after Ubisoft released Assassins Creed patch notes that address issues caused by Windows 11 update 24H2. But before you break out the celebratory eagle dives, there’s a catch: Whilst definite solutions exist for earlier Assassin’s Creed games developers have yet to tackle the Assassins Creed Odyssey challenges.
Ubisoft announced the updates on Assassins Creed Steam for Valhalla and Origins, stating the patches address the notorious crashes that plagued the Viking-era England and Ancient Egypt-set adventures. Players had been dealing with games crashing every few minutes, prompting an avalanche of review-bombing on Steam to push Ubisoft into action. While the fixes took two months to arrive, the wait for Odyssey fans continues, with Ubisoft offering no timeline for when Ancient Greece will get its much-needed rescue.
This debacle adds to a growing pile of woes for Ubisoft. While the company had hoped for major wins with Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, underwhelming sales of the former and multiple delays of the latter have left fans frustrated. Shadows, set in Japan, has been pushed back to March 20, following controversies over historical inaccuracies, unauthorized use of a flag, and an “insensitive” collectible statue design. As Ubisoft scrambles to repair its reputation, Odyssey players are left with one question: When will the Greek epic rise again? Until then, it’s all about patience—and maybe a good backup game.
Ubisoft has now patched the Windows 11 versions of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Origins, but Odyssey is still bugged.
Yes, you can! Assassin's Creed Odyssey plays beautifully on Windows 11. I gained approximately 10-20 frames after updating!
