A select number of Battlefield fans will have early access to play Battlefield 6 through a limited playtest. The Battlefield Labs closed beta program launched by EA is a selection-based test program where chosen participants can test new features and give feedback.
Battlefield Labs hosted its inaugural playtest session on March 7th, 2025, which ran for two hours on the PC platform. The testing phase at this session helps EA refine game mechanics while collecting valuable player feedback to strengthen the final game release. All participants must sign NDAs that stop them from disclosing information about or video recording or streaming the game during testing. Battlefield Labs is a fundamental tool for EA to regain fan confidence following the disappointed reception of Battlefield 2042. The company seeks input from its community at the beginning of development to prevent previous mistakes and enhance the gameplay of its next BF instalment. The first phase of the test will only include North American and European players, but future sessions plan to boost the number of participants, with thousands of players worldwide.
The first phase of Battlefield Lab attracted 1.3 million interested applicants. The March 7th playtest featured only a small selection of participants, yet EA guarantees further testing chances during the following months. Players can continue registering for Battlefield Labs on the official website, although selection depends on factors beyond registration time. The new method shows EA's dedication to creating a Battlefield game that matches player expectations as this approach will result in a better finalized product.
