Planning a ranger build in Avowed? In many cases, ranger weapons can be incredibly useful during your Avowed adventure; however, it’s crucial that you know about the best early game weapons to help equip your character well. In line with this thought, today, we’re looking at the best early game weapons for a ranger in Avowed; hopefully, this will help you understand more about the different weapons in the game and how they might work for your playthrough.
First of all, it’s important that we consider what the best starting weapon is for a ranger class character build in Avowed. Unfortunately, this is a little tricky to define since there is no specifically ranged weapon for players to start the game with. In line with this thought, any of the basic common starting weapons will likely do the job until you’re able to get your hands on a suitable ranged weapon.
Don’t worry - you can pick up your first ranged weapon very quickly, so you won’t be left using the starting weapons for long! Still, in the meantime, it’s important to ensure your game is running smoothly to prevent issues from arising due to lag while you’re still fighting in close quarters combat. Luckily, with an Avowed dedicated server, you know your game will continue to run smoothly thanks to 24/7 uptime and full server DDoS protection. Why compromise?
Once you leave the starting area, you’ll immediately be able to start searching for your new weapons load-out, and it shouldn’t be too long before you stumble across your first ranged weapon. However, while you can get a common ranged weapon easily in the world itself, there are several extra-special weapons that you may want to keep an eye out for.
It’s not cheap at all, costing a staggering 10,368 copper skeyt - however, if you’ve managed to earn a load of money in the early game, The Long Touch will undoubtedly be one of the best weapons you can get so soon. This unique, exceptional quality two-handed ranged bow does 90 physical damage and 98 stun with an impressive 9% critical chance. Moreover, it can have one of two enchantments: Grim Focus (+10% critical hit chance when fine aiming with power attacks) or Lesser Opening Strike (+5% damage to enemies with full health).
Another amazing early-game unique ranger weapon, don’t let the name (or its early stats) fool you - The Disappointer is actually one of the most powerful pistols in the early game! Indeed, many people overlook this pistol due to its starting -10% damage trait. However, if you enchant the pistol in your party camp, you can switch that up for a +10% damage boost, instead, making it surprisingly powerful. As such, it’s definitely one to grab during your travels; just make sure you’ve got another good weapon to hand as well to use in the meantime.
If you can’t afford The Long Touch just yet but have a decent amount of money saved up, you could instead consider investing in the Fine Bow or Fine Aquebus from Gweneth. Costing 3600, they’re a lot more affordable than the unique bow and are generally pretty hard to find in the game world itself, so buying one now might be a good investment.
If you’re ready to start taking on bounties, Caeroc’s Pride could be an excellent ranged weapon to get hold of. This unique pistol deals a moderate but not at all shoddy 46 physical damage with 20 stun and a 3% critical chance. Its enchantments either deal +10% bonus shock damage or high shock accumulation with power attacks. The pistol can be collected after completing the bounty in Emerald Stair, making it a little later on than the other weapons on this list (but nonetheless still a good contender).
No. Unfortunately, all of the starting weapons in Avowed are melee weapons only. As such, you’ll need to wait until slightly later in the game to get a ranged weapon.
Yes, absolutely! While most people with the ranger build will likely focus on ranged weapons - such as pistols, aquebus weapons, and bows - you can also use melee weapons and even magic if you so wish. Just be sure to choose one that works with your character’s abilities.
Without a doubt, the ranger build can offer many great benefits for Avowed players, including the ability to attack from a safer distance. However, while the build is incredibly valuable for many players, it’s important to keep in mind that ranger characters in Avowed still need to invest in the best possible gear they can find to make the most of their unique perks, and today’s tips will hopefully help with this. After all, even the early game of Avowed offers some excellent ranged weapons, and while options may feel a little easier for fighter characters, there are nevertheless still plenty of options to consider.
