Exploring the Mistlands isn’t a simple process; indeed, with such heavy mist hanging around the Mistlands, it’s easy to find yourself getting lost in the wilds of the region. Fortunately, though, there are plenty of ways to make the exploration process a little more straightforward, and using a Valheim wisp can be incredibly helpful. In line with this thought, today, we’re looking at what a Valheim wisplight is, what it does, and how you can craft one to make your Mistlands exploration a little more straightforward.
Crafting wisps is incredibly useful in Valheim. However, before you begin using up your resources to make plenty of wisps to use during your adventures, it’s well worth knowing what they do specifically to help. Fortunately, Valheim’s wisps can lend themselves in many different ways, making them useful - but how many you’ll need is an important consideration.
So, what is a wisplight in Valheim? Well, a wisplight is a unique type of accessory that allows the player to clear away mist from the Mistlands biome. After all, mist can often feel incredibly oppressive and hard to work through, but luckily, this doesn’t have to be the case. Specifically, since the wisplight allows you to clear mist within a 10m radius of where your character is stood, it’s incredibly helpful if you need to clear the mist to explore properly. Don’t forget as well that, if you’re playing in multiplayer made, you can create Valheim server to play with your friends and each friend can use a torch, making it easier to see where you’re going.
The wisplight is an accessory that your character can equip. When in use, the wisplight will float by your character’s side, illuminating a circle of 20 meters in diameter. This makes it highly useful for adventuring. This unique type of light will automatically follow the player once equipped. This makes it a useful tool as it won’t prevent you from wearing a suitable set of armor along with your new light source.
However, take care not to move too quickly, as it’s possible for the light to lag behind if you move away from it. Fortunately, if this does happen, it should catch up with the player when you stand still. So, this shouldn’t be a major issue for your own game.
Of course, as an accessory item, it’s worth keeping in mind that a Valheim wisplight can conflict with some other accessories. Namely, if you’re using the wisp light, you won’t be able to use the Megingjord belt or the Wishbone.
By now, we’ve considered what a wisp light is in Valheim - but you’re likely still wondering how to craft one. Fortunately, there’s some good news here: making a wisplight is a very simple craft.
To craft a wisp light, you’ll only need two materials: silver and a wisp. Silver is relatively easy to find and can be smelted using silver ore; alternatively, pre-smelted silver can sometimes be found in the world, such as by destroying Ancient Pots or within putrid holes.
Getting hold of a wisp is marginally more difficult, which is important to keep in mind. You will need to build a wisp fountain before you can harvest them; this is built at the stone cutter from a torn spirit and ten pieces of stone. Once you’ve built and erected a wisp fountain, you can collect up to three wisps at a time during dark hours.
Once you have the materials needed to craft a wisp light, all you’ll need to do is head to a workbench to craft the item. Then, the wisp light can be equipped in your accessories slot when you’re ready to begin exploring the mists.
The best item for clearing the mist in Valheim is arguably the wisplight, which clears mist at a 10m radius around the player. However, wisp torches, the Mistwalker, and certain Dvergr structures all help with mist clearance, too. Specifically, wisp torches provide a larger amount of coverage (12m), although they are not portable.
Yes. You can continue to wear your full set of armor when using the wisp light in Valheim. However, since the wisp light does take up your accessories slot, it will prevent you from using other such accessories that might be part of your regular equipment setup.
If you need your accessories slot for other items, you can dissipate mist using the Mistwalker sword or the wisp torch. Naturally, the sword is a portable solution, whereas the mist torch is not portable. However, the mist torch does offer larger coverage than wisplights themselves.
If you’ve been looking to traverse the Mistlands in Valheim, it’s imperative to know how to make a wisp light; after all, they’re an incredibly useful resource in Valheim, and as such, it’s perhaps unsurprising that they’re such a handy tool to keep on hand. So, make sure you keep this in mind when considering whether or not to stock up on Valheim wisplights.
