Have you ever thought of visiting the Ginger Island Resort in Stardew Valley? There are plenty of good reasons to consider visiting the Ginger Island Resort. However, these may not all seem like the right options to consider for your own game. Indeed, the Ginger Island Resort is far from a required component of the game; it’s perhaps not surprising, then, that the Beach Resort may not be one of the first Stardew destinations you visit. Nonetheless, it’s potentially handy to know about the Ginger Island beach resort to help you experience the most from your Stardew game.
Unlocking the Ginger Island Beach Resort in Stardew Valley
Once you have unlocked the Island Farmhouse on Ginger Island, the opportunity to unlock and repair the Ginger Island Beach Resort will become available. The Ginger Island Beach Resort is repaired for 20 Golden Walnuts and welcomes NPCs from Pelican Town on non-rainy days. The resort opens at 11 AM and closes by 6 PM each night, provided that the weather is dry.
Of course, while it’s perfectly fine for the Beach Resort to only open for a limited time period each day, one thing that needs to be stable is your Stardew server. Fortunately, ScalaCube’s private Stardew servers offer 24/7 reliable stability, so you can count on a safer game that won’t go down unexpectely
Opening and Closing the Ginger Island Resort
The Ginger Island resort can be opened and closed at will. As such, if you’d rather keep the Resort closed and keep NPCs at home in Pelican Town, you can simply close the resort. However, keep in mind that opening or closing the resort won’t toggle until the following day. Thus, if the resort is open for the day, you won’t be able to kick the guests out until the following day.
On days when the Ginger Island Resort is open, guests from Pelican Town will arrive at random. There is no way to accurately predict which guests will be present on the island; as such, if you need to be able to find someone specifically for a quest or a gift, you may want to keep the resort closed so that their actions will be more predictable.
Visiting the Ginger Island Beach Resort Bar
If the Ginger Island Resort is open, you can pay it a visit yourself. There are several things you can do here; however, the main activity is simply talking to the NPCs who have visited that day. However, if Gus is visiting the Ginger Island Beach Resort, he will actually open his Resort Bar. The Resort Bar offers a range of beach resort inspired drinks, including Pina Colada, Beer, Pale Ale,
Mead, Cranberry Candy, and Mango Wine. These range in price between 500g and 5000g, so the prices can be pretty steep. You can also purchase the Tropical Curry recipe from Gus’ Beach Resort, which offers a +4 foraging buf and is made from one coconut, pineapple, and hot pepper. The recipe is also one of the few that are actually profitable in the game.
Accessing the Island Southeast
Once you have unlocked the Island Resort, you can also use the destination as a cut-through to access the Island Southeast region. This is only a very small area, but it’s still a fun place to explore once you’ve unlocked the Resort.
Pirate Cove
The Pirate Cove is definitely one of the most exciting things to stumble across on Ginger Island, especially if you’ve never found this area before. As the name implies, the Pirate Cove is a unique location where, given the right conditions, a group of pirates stop by for a drink and casual chat. It makes for a fun place to hang out, especially if you have any pirate equipment - be it a Pirate Hat, Eye Patch, a Deluxe Pirate Hat, or the Parrot Egg Trinket - which allows you to claim a free bottle of mead from the
Pirates’ bar once per day. Yum!
Meeting the Mermaid
Where there are pirates, tales of mermaids often aren’t far behind - and Stardew Valley is no exception to this rule. Indeed, once you have unlocked the Island Southeast zone, you’ll be able to find the Mermaid, who shows up on a rock by the shoreline in rainy weather.
It’s easy to assume that the Mermaid is only there as a random encounter; however, she actually has a functional role in the game, too. If you place flute bocks by the Mermaid and use them to play the Mermaid’s Song, she will provide a gift of five Golden Walnuts as a reward. If you’ve never played the Mermaid’s Song before, don’t panic; the notes needed for the symphony can be found in Secret Note #15. This can be found at random in numerous ways, including:
- Chopping trees
- Cutting weeds
- Killing monsters
- Fishing
- Breaking stones
- Tilling artifact spots
- Harvesting giant crops
The only sure way to get a Secret Note is by harvesting a giant crop, and there is no guarantee you’ll necessarily get the fifteenth note.

Final Thoughts
Without a doubt, the Ginger Island Resort can be a lively and fun place to be - even if it’s not necessarily a crucial place to visit. Fortunately, the player can control whether or not the resort opens, helping give you greater influence over the island and its operations accordingly.
