How to Remove Stolen Flags in Oblivion Remastered
Thievery in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is an organic phenomenon that creates a sense of risk-reward fun for the player as they steal whatever they please from unaware NPCs all over Cyrodiil. Stealing valuable swords out of display cabinets or cracking into armor in a noble's bedchamber, stealing can pay and be hazardous. There's a catch, however; guards will steal stolen items from the player, arrest them, or even lock them up. That is why you need to be aware of how to get rid of stolen flags in Oblivion Remastered. The "Stolen" items not only can't be sold to ordinary merchants but can even be taken away if the guards find you possessing them in your inventory. Fortunately, there are a few tried-and-tested ways of stripping off the Stolen flag and obtaining your ill-gotten gains completely legitimate again.
Removing Stolen Flags Using Fences

Make Your Own game Server
One of the best and lore-friendly ways to fence stolen flags in Oblivion Remastered is to sell your loot to a Thieves Guild fence. Sold, you may buy it back, and the "Stolen" taint will be gone for good. But first, so you can use fences, you must join the Thieves Guild.
How To Join The Thieves Guild
Wait for the Approach: In case you have been participating in petty crime or caught stealing, there is a high probability you will be approached by a Mysterious Dark Elf who presents you with a cryptic note of possible redemption and wealth. Go to the Imperial City Waterfront: If the invite isn't spawning for you, go there yourself. There should be a Gray Fox poster and a beggar named Puny Ancus. Talk to Him About the Gray Fox: You will need to get his Disposition up to 60 or better using bribes or Speechcraft. When he is friendly, he'll tell you about a clandestine meeting. Meet Armand Christophe: Go up the stairs straight to the right of the poster and stay there until midnight. Armand will appear at a secluded corner, go up to him, and take the test for the Thieves Guild. Pass the Test: The objective is to steal a diary from Amantius Allectus' house in the Temple District in the Imperial City. Return it to Armand to gain your membership. When you're a member of the Thieves Guild, you'll have fences that will specialize in buying stolen goods.
Where To Find The First Fence

Your first fence is Ongar the World-Weary, in Bruma, in his house just south of the city. Ongar - speak to him and bring up the barter menu. Sell him whatever stolen goods you have on your mind. Purchase the item back immediately, and the Stolen Flag will be dropped. You'll be losing a bit of gold due to transaction markup, but this is the most stable, most secure method of legitimizing stolen loot and treasures.
Un-Flagging Stolen Flags Using Enchantment
Another trick that is not so popular for flag theft is enchanting the stolen item, essentially making it into a brand-new item in the game's database, without any Stolen tag. You can do this with access to an operational Altar of Enchanting. The simplest one is inside Frostcrag Spire, the tower of a well-known wizard north-northeast of Bruma.
How To Access Frostcrag Spire
If you have already heard rumors regarding the tower at Bruma, then it will be charted for you. Travel there and step within it to find the Altar of Enchanting. But as a condition for its use, you'll need to initially activate it with Magetallow Candles. You can purchase them from Aurelinwae, proprietor of the Mystic Emporium in the Market District of the Imperial City. Steps To Unstolen Flags With Enchantment - - - - - Get Magetallow Candles from Aurelinwae. Return to Frostcrag Spire and ignite the Altar of Enchanting. Choose your stolen item, armor, or weapon. Put a new enchantment on it with a full Soul Gem. Finish the process to get a new, enchanted item without a Stolen Flag. This procedure is particularly useful for expensive gear or weapons you do not want to sell and re-buy from a fence. It also acts as an upgrade, giving your stolen item a tailored magical enhancement while eliminating its criminal nature.
Bonus: Using Console Commands (PC only)
If you are playing on PC, the procedure is even simpler. You can remove stolen ownership flags outright using a single console command: Open console through tilde key (~). Click on the stolen item to highlight it. Type: SetOwnership Press Enter. The item is now yours, stripping its stolen flag once and for all.
Why It's Worth Removing Stolen Flags

Those that are pilfered can't be bought by regular merchants, typically have red icons on inventory, and will attract guard notice if you attempt to investigate them. It's possible to clean them up and equip, show off, or sell them openly without penalty, a significant activity to any prospective thief or collector in Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered. Even if you plan on playing an amoral or simply criminal character, knowing how to deal with stolen goods properly saves you time and gold, especially when trading intermittent guns or quest-looted equipment.
