Ahdarji's Heirloom Walkthrough in Oblivion Remastered
The Thieves Guild once again calls upon the Hero of Cyrodiil for another dangerous and cunning assignment in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. This time, the job centers around recovering a stolen ring, one that’s infamous among players for being both elusive and notoriously buggy. The quest, Ahdarji’s Heirloom, is one of the more memorable missions in the Thieves Guild storyline, offering players a great mix of stealth, persuasion, and clever infiltration. While the premise sounds simple, retrieve a ring, there are multiple branching paths, dialogue checks, and potential quest-breaking bugs to avoid. This walkthrough explains how to complete Ahdarji’s Heirloom step-by-step in Oblivion Remastered, while also ensuring the quest runs smoothly.
How To Start the Ahdarji’s Heirloom Quest in Oblivion Remastered

Make Your Own game Server
To begin this Thieves Guild quest, you will have to have fenced at least 200 gold of loot. Once you've completed this task, head to Bravil and S'Krivva's residence, which is pretty close to the east gate. S'Krivva is your Doyen and will offer you "Special Jobs" after you've settled. Select this choice, and she will offer you the quest "Ahdarji's Heirloom" as your next official Thieves Guild quest.
Speaking With Ahdarji
After you've received the quest, travel to Leyawiin, where your client, Ahdarji, can be found. She's a major Khajiit noble who roams around in two primary locations: The Five Claws Lodge during the day (midday). Three Sisters' Inn in the nighttime. Speak to Ahdarji to get the tale; her family's keepsake ring was stolen by an Argonian named Amusei, who now resides in Leyawiin Castle.
How To Approach Amusei in Oblivion Remastered
Go to Leyawiin Castle and go down to the prison area. Speak to the guard there for 20 Gold, and he will let you speak to Amusei. As you talk to him, Amusei admits to having the ring but informs you that he no longer does, as it was taken from him at the time of his arrest. He will assist you only if you give him a lockpick so that he can escape. Tip: Although Ahdarji will encourage you to kill Amusei, do not; he comes in handy later during the Thieves Guild questline. After learning about the ring, return to Ahdarji and update her on what Amusei told you. Doing this early helps avoid a common bug that prevents the ring from spawning later in the quest.
How To Steal Ahdarji’s Ring in Oblivion Remastered

Ahdarji will now promise to double your payment, a maximum of 200 Gold, if you can retrieve the ring. To discover where it's kept, go and locate a beggar in Leyawiin and bribe him with a few coins. The beggar will tell you about an Argonian prisoner torture cell deep beneath Far Leyawiin Castle. Head inside Leyawiin Castle and look for Hlidara Mothril, the personal assistant of the Countess. You’ll need to raise her Disposition to at least 70 using the Persuasion Wheel or bribes. Once she’s friendly, ask her about “Leyawiin’s secrets” and “the Countess’ ring.” She will tell that Countess Caro keeps her ring in a jewel box in the countess's own personal bedchamber, and a person can access the room by way of a hidden passage from the castle's basement and torture room.
Sneaking Into Leyawiin Castle
Then comes the sneaky part of the journey. Wait till 1 AM, but do not attempt this on the 15th, 16th, or 17th of the month since the Count and Countess won't be in their normal spots. Enter the Castle Basement quietly. Find a barrel with a hidden lever at the back wall, pull it to create an open secret door. Creep silently through the torture chamber, where another lever to the private rooms is found. Remove bulky armor and weapons from here to minimize detection noise. One guard patrols this area only, but stealth is still crucial.
Stealing the Ring
When you go into the private bedroom, turn left, and you will find the bedroom of the Countess. Both the Count and Countess will usually be sleeping there. On their right-hand side is a jeweler's box with a locked clasp containing Ahdarji's Ring. If your Lockpicking is terrible, you can just pickpocket the Count or Countess for the key. Do save first, however, you'll earn an instant bounty and probable failure for waking them up. Having the ring in your possession, make your way back the same route that you took to obtain it, so you will not be noticed, and exit the castle unnoticed.
Returning Ahdarji's Ring

With the ring now in your possession, return to Ahdarji in Leyawiin. She will be happy and will repay you 200 Gold for your work. Then head back to S'Krivva in Bravil and inform her that you've been successful. She will reward you with another 200 Gold and advance your Prowler rank in the Thieves Guild, opening up your next large quest in the series.
Common Bugs & Tips
Ring Not Appearing: Always talk to Ahdarji about Amusei before sneaking into the castle to avoid the missing-ring glitch. Quest Not Updating: Sleep or wait 24 hours after stealing the ring, then talk to Ahdarji again. Disposition Issues: Hlidara’s cooperation heavily depends on disposition. Use charm spells or speechcraft to raise it quickly.
Why Ahdarji’s Heirloom Is Worth Doing
While the payout is modest, Ahdarji’s Heirloom helps advance the Thieves Guild questline, introduces recurring characters like Amusei, and develops the intrigue behind the Gray Fox, the mysterious leader of the Guild. It also challenges players to balance stealth, persuasion, and timing, making it one of the more satisfying side missions in Oblivion Remastered.
