With fans whirling and complaining over the issue of low storage support on Xbox support, Microsoft has finally responded with good news. The popular tech enterprise has announced in a blog post that all Xbox devices will include larger storage options. This news is especially thrilling to gamers with a storage drive larger than 16TB.
The Xbox new release update is part of a software update yet to be released to the general public. Microsoft has confirmed that the new software update will be rolled out to larger testing groups before being deemed fit for the general public. The whole distribution is said to take place over the next couple of weeks.
This new update is helpful for external USB drives larger than 16TB. What seems to be more interesting is Microsoft's disclosure about the partitioning methodology. The developers don't list a new upper limit for storage devices.
"Newly formatted drives that are larger than 16TB will be formatted with multiple partitions to utilize all available space for games and apps. These will appear as multiple devices in the storage devices list." Microsoft further stated.
No particular date has been selected yet.
Microsoft suggested that the development will be assessed by the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring before rolling out to the general public.
Unfortunately, no. Microsoft disclosed that newly formatted drives will be formatted in multiple partitions to utilize all available space for games and apps.
The formatted drive upon completion will display as multiple devices in the storage device list.
