Unearth "Planet Vulcanus and its New Structures Unveiled" introduced in 2021 a cosmic expansion of four original planets - creating the perfect equilibrium of level of progressiveness and diversity versus the monotonous core ISO world.
The towering Foundry on Vulcanus provides a 50% productivity bonus, and a Big Mining Drill to assist in increasing efficiency while extracting tungsten ore.
Vulcanus is the region where players will be put to the test with unique recipes and resources focused on dedication towards simplicity and a novel, interactive gaming experience throughout the variety of planets.
Planet Design Start:
With the expansion leading to space at the beginning of 2021, the game developers started planning for the expansion, and the idea of a visit to other planets popped up from there to extend the concept.
Throughout the key decision of how many planets should be added in the expansion, the magic number was defined as 4, to fulfill the criterion of fulfilling progression and low repetition.
Different Recipes/Resources:
To prevent from newly discovered planets becoming nothing but serving bases for obtaining valuable minerals on them, every planet should contain some vast incredible construct, which will inspire a player to build factories.
On landing on a planet, one would simply re-launch the rockets and be taken back to space. The new recipes on each planet would streamline or bypass some of the parts, removing the rocket infrastructure-building grind.
The Foundry:
Representing Vulcanus' metallurgical theme, the Foundry is a massive structure with a 50% built-in productivity bonus.
It handles molten metals, introduces tungsten processing, and crafts the Metallurgic science pack.
Big Mining Drill:
Designed for mining tungsten ore, the Big Mining Drill features a larger mining area, faster harvesting, and a unique property reducing resource drain by 50%.
It's a direct upgrade from the normal mining drill, making it more versatile and efficient.
Recipes and Resources on Vulcanus:
Sulfuric acid can be mined directly, water is created from sulfuric acid, and there's no natural uranium on Vulcanus.
Lava is used as a resource, processed into molten metals, with calcite introduced as a cleaning/purifying ingredient.
Conclusion:
The initial rules and ideas for Vulcanus have undergone refinement over time, emphasizing the need to simplify and reduce points of repetition between planets.
The developers aim to maintain a fresh gameplay experience across multiple planets while avoiding overwhelming complexity.
Stay tuned for further updates on what the Metallurgic science pack unlocks in the future.
