Minecraft
The Minecraft 1.20 update, called Trails and Tales, is set to be released on June 7th, 2023. This update aims to address the shortcomings of previous updates, particularly the "Wild Update" in version 1.19. It introduces various new features, including archaeology, armor customization, bamboo wood and rafts, banner shields, hanging and editable signs, chiseled bookshelves, revamped creative inventory, calibrated sculk sensors, new and improved mob heads, changes to Netherite usage, the fill biome command, reduced mob spawning around Nether portals, new mobs (camels and sniffer), and a new cherry blossom biome.
The long-awaited archaeology feature allows players to search for suspicious sand and gravel blocks that, when dusted, unveil pottery shards that can be combined to create ancient decorated pots. The update also introduces armor trims and customization, giving players the ability to customize their armor with various patterns and colors. Bamboo wood is added, featuring its own set of blocks and the ability to craft rafts. Banner shields allow players to apply banners to shields, adding character to their in-game persona.
Hanging signs can now be placed on the sides and bottoms of blocks, providing more options for sign placement. Signs can also be edited without needing to be destroyed and replaced. Chiseled bookshelves are now functional, allowing players to store regular and enchanted books. The creative inventory has been reorganized into different tabs for easier item selection.
New mob heads, including Piglin heads, can be used with note blocks to create ambient mob sounds. The sniffer, the winner of the Minecraft Mob Vote 2022, can sniff out seeds for new plants in the overworld. The update also adds the calibrated sculk sensor, a new Redstone component that filters vibrations based on their frequency level. Netherite items are harder to obtain, requiring an upgrade smithing template obtained from Bastion Remnants. The fill biome command allows players to change the biome of specific regions in their world.
The update introduces the camel mob, which spawns naturally in desert biomes and can be ridden by two players. Camels can also be bred using cactus as food. The sniffer mob, also a result of the mob vote, sniffs out seeds and has a unique appearance and movement behavior. A new cherry blossom biome is added, featuring cherry blossom trees, pink flowers, and a unique branch-based generation. The biome also introduces cherry wood blocks and items.
