Minecraft
Minecraft Snapshot 24w10a has been well named and does indeed deliver a snapshot of the upcoming game update, packed with new features and varied bug fixes, among so many other interesting improvements - not to mention wolves and data packs. Take a look:
Wolf Variants:
Added several new Wolf variants determined by the biome they spawn in.
Variants include Pale Wolf, Woods Wolf, Ashen Wolf, Black Wolf, Chestnut Wolf, Rusty Wolf, Spotted Wolf, Striped Wolf, and Snowy Wolf.
Each variant spawns in specific biomes with varying pack sizes.
Changes:
Adjusted spawning conditions for Wolves, allowing them to spawn on Coarse Dirt and Podzol blocks.
Passive mobs spawning in the Grove biome now only include Rabbits, Foxes, and Wolves.
Button tooltips will no longer appear when hovering outside the containing element.
Technical Changes:
Data Pack version updated to 34.
Recipe results can now specify component data.
New entity predicate field slots added for matching item slots.
Execute if|unless items added to check and count items.
Banner Patterns are now data-driven.
Changes to Item Stack Component formats.
Player Head blocks now store a custom_name tag, which transfers to and from the item form when broken or placed.
Fixed Bugs in 24W10A:
Fixed some bugs that determined the stacking of unbreaking-enchanted items, unequippable books with curses, player heads losing their names, inconsistencies in item modifiers, and many other attributes.
Fixed crashes related to item components, paintings, beehives, bundles, and more.
Corrected issues with arrows losing particles, lodestone compasses, and suspicious stew not giving effects.
The snapshot not only brings in different Wolf variants but also helps boost technical performance in-game, while fixing a whole list full of bugs, to enhance playing experience, which won't be as rough anymore.
Rust
A series of changes and improving brought in Rust to uplift the playing experience of this video game many folds. Especially for a new player, here is what major change in each meant update version:
Tutorial Island for New Players:
It will introduce a dedicated tutorial island, which new players will use to orientate in the safe environment to new control mechanics before being thrown into the main game world.
New players are prompted to start the tutorial when connecting to a compatible server.
Veteran players can manually start the tutorial via the Options menu.
Covers basic movement, crafting, base building, respawning, combat, resource management, cooking, and more.
Tutorial completion does not grant advantages in regular gameplay.
Nightlight Feature:
Addresses the issue of navigating the game during nighttime.
Introduces a shader called "Nightlight" that subtly illuminates a small radius around the player, simulating natural moonlight.
Balances visibility at night while maintaining darkness in distant areas to prevent unfair advantages.
Aims to enhance the night experience without compromising fair play.
Vendor UI Refresh:
Revamp the vendor UI to merge it with the marketplace UI for clarity and user-friendliness.
Part one replaces the old tooltip popup with a clearer interface displaying item details, cost, and stock counts.
Part two will unify the marketplace UI with the new vendor UI, providing search and filtering functionalities.
Server owners can control tutorial activation via a convar and advertise tutorial compatibility with a server tag.
Other Improvements and Fixes:
Adds a rangefinder to binoculars.
Adjusts reload time for attack helicopter flares.
Disables metal detectors from finding loot in safe zones.
Provides visual feedback for attire conflicts.
Updates store interface for better transparency and visual appeal.
Retires Hapis Island and Observer Island custom maps from official servers.
