The launch of Stalker 2 Heart of Chronobyl came with some rough edges but GSC Game World is not giving up and is on a mission to smooth things out. The latest Stalker 2 patch 1.1.4 was just dropped and had some performance issues and bugs.
For those who have not been on track, stalker 2 had a huge launch in November 2024 and sold over a million copies within 48 hours. Despite the hype, players ran into frustrating crashes, performance drops, and even missing save files—ouch. Thankfully, GSC Game World has been hard at work, rolling out updates to fix the game’s biggest headaches. This latest patch takes aim at some major issues. Memory leaks in the Rostok location? Gone. Performance drops when aiming or shooting in long playthroughs? Fixed. Xbox save file corruption? Hopefully a thing of the past.
Most of these crashes were because of UI animations and shader compilations which have been fixed for a better experience. But that is not it! The developers are still working on a major update which is building suspense. Sadly, for Stalker 2 PS5 there is no word yet because the team at GSC Game World states they will concentrate solely on Stalker 2 PC and Stalker 2 Xbox development. Thus, for all the stalkers out there, the Zone is slowly becoming a more stable place to explore. Keep your Geiger counters ready—there’s still more to come!
Stalker 2 requires players to have 160GB of SSD storage on their system according to its finalized PC specifications.
Stalker 2 was a huge success. Officially, it has sold one million copies on PC, Xbox Series X, and S, with many more available through Game Pass.
Stalker 2 Heart of Chornobyl marks the newest release of a video game series launched with Stalker Shadow of Chornobyl in 2007 created by GSC Game World from Ukraine.
