According to IGN, Sony is looking into re-implementing popular PlayStation themes, a feature that all PS4 users learned to love but hasn't been seen on PS5 since its launch. Sony also came out to say that they are looking into adding custom themes for the PlayStation 5.
Dynamic and static themes — which let PS4 players decorate their home screens with visuals and music from their favorite games — have also been requested by fans for years. Though the PS5 interface is built differently, recent updates from Sony indicate that customization options could be coming to the platform in the not-too-distant future.
Another reason why themes could make a comeback is because of new UI improvements and system updates, providing players with more methods to customize their console experience. Whether that means a return of dynamic themes as we knew them (or in some form) or an all-new system remains to be seen, but it’s promising for the PlayStation faithful who want to see one of the best features of the PS4 era return.
Sony hasn’t said for sure, but they might add ways to change how the PS5 looks in future updates.
The PS5 menu was made simple, but Sony is thinking about adding ways to change it.
There is no set date yet, but Sony is looking into it.
If themes come back, Sony might have both free and paid ones, like on the PS4.
