Hold tight VR fans, because Meta is cooking up something new! It might just be a brand-new high-end headset. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that the company is not only working on the expected Meta Quest 4 but also on a mysterious premium model that could be the successor to Meta Quest Pro.
If you recall the Quest Pro had some top-notch tech behind it, but because of its price tag, it did not make too many sales and was eventually discontinued by Meta. Many fans were left wondering if this was the end of high-end quest devices. But guess what? Meta is not done yet!
Before moving forward, let's examine the situation. As a normal practice Meta is continuously working on various VR experiments but only delivers a few products to the market. In fact, a Quest Pro 2 was reportedly scrapped before, raising questions about whether this new headset is a revival of that idea or something entirely fresh.
So, when is the Meta Quest 4 coming out? Well… don’t hold your breath. The Meta Quest 3S is still fresh, and even the Meta Quest 4 release date isn’t rumored to drop until 2026. Until then, Meta will likely continue optimizing its existing lineup with software updates.
The company continues to work on premium VR technology which suggests major updates are on the horizon. Get ready because this could be the next revolutionary product in virtual reality technology.
Meta plans to release the Meta Quest 4 in September 2026 based on their established product launch pattern which started with the Meta Quest 3 in 2023.
The Meta Quest 4 will start production in 2026 following its major reveal next October and has a good chance of becoming the most successful XR headset available.
62% of industry experts anticipate the base 128GB Quest 4 will cost between $499 and $550, somewhat higher than the Quest 3.
