Limited Run Games and id Software have gotten together to make the ultimate collector's item for DOOM fans. The new 'Will It Run' Edition is a bizarrely brilliant bundle featuring a box and a handheld Cacodemon, both capable of playing the classic shooter. This completely over-the-top release takes full advantage of the ongoing meme of porting DOOM to senseless hardware and doesn’t disappoint.
DOOM and DOOM II with all expansions, including TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, and the new episode, Legacy of Rust, are packed into the edition as one huge pack, offering a total of 187 mission maps and 43 deathmatch maps. What makes it insane, though, is the physical absurdity of a big box that also serves as a DOOM-playing device and integrated Cacodemon-shaped handheld with built-in controls.
The tape comes on a cassette tape soundtrack, there’s a floating Cacodemon figurine, and it comes with trading cards. It’s honestly as much a novelty as a tribute to gaming history. The models, priced at $666.66 each, are limited to only 666 units, and the preorders are opening on April 18 and will close on May 18, 2025. For those of us who are die-hard fans, it’s a steep ask, but the bragging rights alone may be worth the cost.
It’s on Switch, PS5, Xbox, and PC (Steam code included).
In this case, it needs an external USB controller.
The preorders are opening on April 18, 2025, till May 18, 2025.
Both DOOM games, expansions, and new content like Legacy of Rust.
