A malware was found in two widely used Schedule1 mods, which concerned the gaming community. The 'Increased Stack Size Limit' and 'Backpack Mod Reupload' mods have been the game mods carrying malicious code and compromising user security.
It has been found that the mod titled "Increased Stack Size Limit", which supposedly helps improve inventory management by allowing bigger item stacks, has been one of the sources of malware. Also, the "Backpack Mod Reupload", the mod that expands backpack capacities, is also suspected to have malware. Whilst these mods offered convenience for Schedule 1 gameplay, they unfortunately have malware.
Those who have it installed are strongly advised to reinstall the game to tie any loose ends. You can also remove the related files using a good antivirus. Changes should also be made to users' passwords on other affected accounts, especially if the same credentials are used on several services.
Of course, since malware has been found among these mods, it’s important to always exercise caution when downloading and installing third-party things. Gamers are advised to download from trusted sources and always scan for potential threats.
The modding community will be asked to report cases of suspicious activity immediately and assist with detecting and removing malicious content. Through awareness and due diligence, players will be able to keep on playing with increased gameplay while keeping their personal information secure.
