According to Electronic Arts (EA), players will receive the upcoming Battlefield game before April 2026. The projected Battlefield release date fits the timeframe of EA's fiscal year 2026 from April 1st, 2025, through March 31st, 2026.
The upcoming Battlefield release will revive its modern-day theme and traditional class systems while adopting specific maps to restore classic gameplay features following the general negative feedback of Battlefield 2042.
EA also introduced Battlefield Labs, which lets players join in pre-alpha playtesting throughout the project's development process. The company implements a method that collects data from the players to improve game quality before the official release.
The development of the new Battlefield sequel involves a joint development project between DICE and Ripple Effect along with Motive and Criterion under the Battlefield Studios branding. The commitment to Battlefield's success led Criterion to stop working on Need for Speed development to contribute to this important undertaking.
