Sid Meier's Civilization VII has received its dedicated virtual reality port designed specifically for Meta Quest headsets. Releasing in the Spring of 2025, the game titled Sid Meier's Civilization VII - VR will be exclusive to the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S devices.
Through the VR implementation, players can move effortlessly between VR and mixed reality (MR) perspectives during their gameplay. Through the front-facing cameras of the Quest gaming device, the game generates a Command Table which appears as a life-size miniature of the in-game world inside players' real environment. The design allows players to use the 4X strategic elements through an immersive tabletop-like playing experience.
The game includes The Archives which lets players see meticulously designed dioramas showing their gaming accomplishments in both virtual reality and mixed reality modes. Players can access these dioramic displays either through VR or MR technology to display their personalized milestones. Virtual reality fans can thank PlaySide Studios for developing this VR port since they specialize in creating top-quality virtual reality games. While there's no final release date or pricing plan available, the game is available to wishlist on the Meta Store.
Exclusive release of the game will be limited to the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S virtual reality devices.
The game will enter the market in spring 2025 although developers have not provided specific launch information yet.
The developers did not disclose any information about crossplay functionality.
