A new turn-based strategy game, called Star Wars: Zero Company by Bit Reactor studio, has been unveiled, with ex-Firaxis developers on board. The game is scheduled for release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, where players will meet Hawks, a former Republic officer and the leader of a customizable squad fighting against a mysterious galactic threat.
Like many of those kinds of games, such as XCOM, Zero Company thrives on tactical combat and deep character customization. For their team robber, players can recruit anything from a Clone Trooper to a Mandalorian, an Astromech, or even a Jedi, as each character has its own abilities and role on the battlefield. The game also has a permadeath feature in which falling squad members are lost forever, stressing the importance of each choice.
The game gives you a narrative-rich experience besides combat. Between missions, players return to a central base to manage their resources and intelligence and grow the relationships with their Squad members. They provide new abilities and allow the story to go in certain directions.
The veterans behind Bit Reactor come from the XCOM series. In doing so, their aim is to expand the strategy genre through the concepts of immersive storytelling and innovative gameplay mechanics. Supported by Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, Zero Company is out to provide a new flavour of Star Wars gaming.
The game is a turn based strategy game that is set during the Clone Wars and centres around tactical combat and character driven storytelling.
The project is developed by Bit Reactor, a studio made of former Firaxis developers, in partnership with Respawn Entertainment and the team behind Lucasfilm Games.
PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
