Imagine a Nether Portal in Minecraft that's broken or just doesn't work. This is known as a Ruined Portal. The problem might be as simple as a missing Obsidian block, or an unsuccessful try to use Crying Obsidian as a frame. Remember, Crying Obsidian cannot build a working Nether Portal.
Let's say you want to take your game to the next level. If this is the case, ScalaCube

Locating Minecraft Ruined Portals
Broken or partially destroyed portals, often called Ruined Portals, can take you to the Nether in Minecraft. A ruined portal in the updated 1.6 Nether version includes a Crying Obsidian block. You can find these broken portals scattered all over your Minecraft world, randomly appearing with a chest filled with useful stuff.
Where can you find a Ruined Portal? It might appear underground, underwater, or literally in the middle of nowhere. However, they're not exclusive to a particular biome. But, their appearances can vary. For instance, one found in a jungle biome could have vines on it, unlike one located in a desert. They can show up in the Nether, too.
Simplifying your search for them, Ruined Portals come with surrounding nether rack bricks. Notice a broken portal on the Nether pathway when you're near - that's a telltale sign. Those underground have air pockets enclosing them, making the blocks above unusually high. But remember, ruined portals with air pockets are not found in standard, jungle, mountain, and nether biomes.
Check the chests at these portals, you might find useful stuff. You could find gold, golden items, obsidian, even iron nuggets, fire charges, jets, and steel. If you want the weeping obsidian near a broken portal, take a diamond or netherite pickaxe with you.
What Makes a Ruined Portal in Minecraft
Though Ruined Portals look different, they have some similar features. Here are five you'll always find in a Ruined Portal:
Broken Frame
The Ruined Portal is an old Nether Portal, so there will be part of a frame made of obsidian and weeping obsidian:
You can fix the Nether Portal with the existing obsidian. But the weeping obsidian has to be replaced with regular obsidian. This is because weeping obsidian doesn't work for making a Nether Portal.
Chest
Usually, there's a treasure filled chest near the Ruined Portal. What’s inside depends on where you are, the Overworld or the Nether.
In the Overworld, the Ruined Portal chest has golden treasures, like golden boots or helmet. Often, they’ll have helpful enchantments: Frost Walker, Feather Falling, Projectile Protection, or Thorns.
In the Nether, the Ruined Portal chest has things you need to fix the portal. You'll find obsidian, flint and steel, and fire charges.
Gold Block
Around the Ruined Nether, a gold block can always be found. This is a great method to build your gold reserves.
Magma Block
A magma block can always be found at a Ruined Portal. There may only be one magma block at a Ruined Portal in the Overworld. However, in the Nether, more magma blocks are guaranteed.
Netherrack
In both the Overworld and the Nether, when a Ruined Portal forms, the ground below changes into netherrack.
Contrary to common beliefs, even non-competitive games require good internet responses. The lower your ping, the more seamless your game plays. High ping, caused by bad latency, can disrupt, even halt, your gaming experience. Stability while gaming online - that's what latency impacts. ScalaCube provides Minecraft server hosting that promises ultra-fast speeds because lag is a gamer's anxiety, an area in which ScalaCube shines. Think about this.
Repair the Ruined Portal
A Ruined Portal can be fixed easily to make it a functional Nether Portal. This lets you move between the Overworld and the Nether.
Below is how to fix a Ruined Portal:
Make the Obsidian Structure
Start by making obsidian form the portal's structure. Use regular obsidian instead of weeping obsidian, which doesn't work for portals.
Activate the Portal
Now, with either flint and steel or a fire charge, turn on your portal.
