Once you've traversed the Moss Grotto and defeated Moss Mother, Silksong is where its promise lives up, enabling you to access wider spaces like The Marrow, Mosshome, etc. Trudging through the latter on foot can definitely be rewarding, but also monotonous. Movement along the curvy platform and caverns isn't always efficient. That's where the Bell Beast comes in handy, a speed-travel ally like the Stag Beetles in the original Hollow Knight.
But the Bell Beast is not a sitting duck waiting to give you an orientation of the map. To use this handy fast travel vehicle, you must first free it from a silk cocoon, and naturally, the beast will awaken in a temper tantrum. In this guide, we will be discussing how to locate the Bell Beast in Hollow Knight: Silksong, how to kill the Bell Beast, and what reward you will receive after this unique boss battle.

Bell Beast is located in The Marrow, from which you can obtain access once you have defeated Moss Mother. To access The Marrow, you have to navigate through a series of platforms and corridors using your nail to clear some obstructions, as well as navigate through the top-right section of the map.
Along the way, park your Rosaries. You will encounter Shakra, a map vendor who is selling maps of the area. Purchase the map of The Marrow, so that traveling is that much simpler, especially in trying to locate the Bell Beast.
Subsequently, upon traveling to the top-right of The Marrow, you will encounter a signpost with a bell symbol pointing to the right. Follow the path indicated, and you will find that the Bell Beast is enclosed in a large web of silk. Attempting to release it with no tools whatsoever is futile—the silk grows faster than you can cut it. You must leave The Marrow and travel to Mosshome to find a special power-up to release the beast. How to Free the Bell Beast
To free the Bell Beast, you will need the Silkspear power-up, a talent that can cut silk webs effectively and speedily. Below is how you can acquire it:
Head left from where Shakra lives and continue on the upper path that leads into Mosshome. This section is crowded with enemies, from air enemies, chargers, and melee enemies. Enter slowly and clear the danger as you go further.
Make your way up the upper tiers of Mosshome to a position where you find a lever that opens up the top-right region. It can be used in traversing environmental dangers and vertical movement to the Silkspear location.
On the upper part of this screen, examine a large object to get the Silkspear. With it, this power-up will enable you to slash silk instantly so you can easily release the Bell Beast.
Return to The Marrow and use the Silkspear to slash the silk webbing covering the Bell Beast. When released, the beast will wake up in its angry form, which will initiate the battle, testing your positioning, timing, and focus.
The Bell Beast fight is harder than your last fight with Moss Mother. It has fluid movement mechanics, environmental attack, and plenty of attack phases. While the fight might seem like Dung Defender's fight with a buffed Moss Charger, knowing the boss mechanics will make the fight possible.

For the first phase, Bell Beast primarily uses two moves: a dash charge and a jump slam. Charge Attack: The Bell Beast's head will be dropped, and it will charge across the arena. Your best reaction is to jump aside. Jump in the air, set up a diagonal nail attack, and strike a few times securely. Timing is crucial here; striking too early or too late will expose you to attack. Jumping Attack: It jumps upwards into the air and then comes down upon you. Get underneath it so your hits land as soon as the boss lands. You can typically get two or three hits in during this short recovery phase.
Phase one continues in this fashion until the health of Bell Beast reaches the next threshold, when phase two is triggered. Phase two: use evasion and prudence; wild assaults have a tendency to inflict unnecessary damage.
In the second phase, the fight is intensely brutal. The ground shakes with raging anger as the Bell Beast begins showering bells down upon the ground from overhead. These bounce attacks deal two masks of damage on impact and have very slightly unpredictable trajectories, bouncing off the ground and shifting left or right.
In this phase, one must be defensive and composed. Dodging the dropping bells must be a priority over combating the Bell Beast with every possible force. Use the skill of timing and observation to predict the location where the bells will drop and move accordingly. The boss retains its charge attack and jump, so you'll need to switch between dodging and cautious nail attacks during a gap. The dropping random bell adds chaos to the fight, so don't even think about attempting extra strikes. Your first priority is surviving until the room is cleared, and then you've got another clean shot to get some damage in.

Beating the Bell Beast Hollow Knight fight is nearly a reward of a Silk Heart, a valuable resource for Hornet. In picking it up, you activate a dreamy sequence of dexterous platforming, using levers and cranks to move upwards. Earning a success in the sequence grants the ability to wield a Silk regeneration power, an effective tool in combat and mobility.
Also, you have the option of fast traveling using the Bell Beast after it has been killed. This mode emulates the Stag Beetles in the initial game, expanding your access significantly to places like Mosshome, The Marrow, and others. Also, remember that even though you can now call upon the Bell Beast, there are still travel points that will remain inaccessible until you progress further in the game.
Bell Beast fight is an early but not so forgettable boss fight in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Unlike Moss Mother, this fight introduces platforming and environmental risk, challenging players to balance between defense and offense.
Key tips for how to defeat Bell Beast are: releasing it with the Silkspear, paying attention to attack patterns during both stages, avoiding falling bells during the second stage, and only attacking in recovery phases. By doing some careful observing, waiting patiently, and having a good understanding of mobility mechanics, you can defeat this grumpy, bell-smashing foe. Having defeated it, the payoff is big: a self-repairing Silk Heart and the use of the Bell Beast to fast travel within Pharloom. The battle, then, is tough and also a major milestone point in progression, both increasing your battle prowess and travel speed.
Whether you’re looking for practical tips or want to experience the full narrative of Silksong, the Bell Beast Hollow Knight encounter is a must-play and offers one of the first examples of how Hornet’s skills will evolve throughout the adventure.
