Enshrouded is a survival RPG that immerses you as the last hope for the corrupted world of Embervale. As one of the Flameborns, you must fight, explore, and craft your way to survival. But this time, survival isn't good enough. To truly be able to take on these threats within the Shroud and make your way, you will need stronger tools and weapons. Enter iron ore—a necessary ingredient to begin crafting the mid- to late-game equipment in Enshrouded. Iron ore will let you craft far more resilient and more powerful weapons and armour than with basic materials, such as stone.

Mining Deep: Finding Iron Ore Deposits
- Iron Ore is a bit more scarce than some of the other resources in Enshrouded. You will have to venture out of some of the initial areas to a few select places with Iron deposits. Here are some key spots to uncover this precious resource:
- Nomad Highlands: This is an early-game source of iron. Go towards the Ancient Spire and look for the gap under the mountain wall. Move to the east from here and turn to the right near the goldish inscriptions on the floor. Very soon, you will find an opening of the cave on your left, where rich iron ore is found.
- Camp Khelen The Caravan Camp holds a moderately reliable source of iron ore. Locate the Caravan Camp and upon arrival, just to the right, there will be a large cave entrance. Once inside, there is a central pathway and up the right side, a huge cluster of iron ore. Scour around the edges for the few remaining sparse deposits.
- Mines and Caves: As you continue to explore farther, you will discover mines and caves. Such places usually contain iron ore deposits as well, among other valuable resources. Be prepared for stronger enemies within.
The Art of Working Iron
Now that you have your iron ore, it's time to convert it into powerful gear. Here's all you have to do:
- Smelter: Before the iron ore can be used to create items, it must first be smelted into ingots. To smelt the ore, you will need a smelter, unlocked after completing the Blacksmith's starter quests. The smelter works as a furnace where you will convert the ores into usable materials.
- Fueling the Forge: Smelting requires fuel. The smelter is fed charcoal, itself the result of setting fire to wood inside a kiln. Make sure you have a good supply of charcoal before setting off to make your iron.
- Smelting Process: Interact with the smelter and access the crafting menu. You should see the iron bars recipe appear; it is typically:
3 Iron Ore
Iron equipment can be made on an anvil, with iron bars that you have so diligently gathered:
- Weapons: Craft iron swords, axes, and maces for much higher damage than their bronze equivalents.
- Armour: Forge iron armour pieces like helmets, chest plates, and greaves to beef up your defence against tougher foes.
- Tools: An iron pickaxe/axe is stronger and more efficient than those made of stone or bronze to bring resources in larger volumes.
While it's rare, you may find iron bars as loot in chests or by defeating high-level enemies. Still, relying on that alone is unadvised, and it is better to mine your iron ore.
Pickaxe—a tool for mining iron ore. You can craft a wooden and stony basic pickaxe as soon as you start the game. You can replace it later with a bronze or iron pickaxe for better mining.
Both stone and bronze are good before iron, but both are weaker and will not last as long.
Yeah! As you level up in the game and unlock higher-tier stations for crafting, you will be able to make excellent iron equipment with improved statistics and the possibility of more crafting materials.
Conclusion
Iron Ore is a game changer in Enshrouded. With its many uses, search for iron ore deposits when trying to get out to just try and find the time to mine, smelt and you will wield incredible weapons, armour, and tools.
