Unlocking the Forge: Pre-Reqs to Crafting Bronze Bars
There are a few things you will need to get out of the way before embarking on your journey to bronze forging.
Blacksmith Quests: The path to bronze bars starts with the Blacksmith, a friendly NPC whom you're sure to encounter on your travels. One of the first Blacksmith quests, typically "Crucible Needed for a Smelter," gives access to the all-important smelter, a furnace in which you'll melt your bronze.
Gather Your Tools Once you have the smelter unlocked, you're going to want to gather the right tools and equipment to get the materials you need. Any aspiring miner will need a pickaxe in order to mine the copper and tin ores—the two key ingredients for bronze bars. You can make a simple pickaxe from wood and stone quite early in the game.
The Molten Heart of Enshrouded: Smelting Bronze Bars
Now that you have the smelter and tools, it's time to get your hands dirty— or rather, hot! Here are step-by-step instructions for crafting bronze bars:
Fueling the Forge: The smelter requires some form of fuel to start a fire of such intensity that smelting can occur. The fuel primarily used for smelting is charcoal, which can be made by burning wood in a kiln, yet another craftable structure in the game.
Ore Collection: Equipped with your pickaxe, head to the great outdoors and collect ores of copper and tin. Copper could often be found around the Nomad Highlands, in mines, caves, and Umber Hollow. Tin could typically be found around the same places as copper. So, keep a sharp eye out while collecting ores.
Smelting: With plenty of Copper and Tin Ores on you and Charcoal readily available, approach your Smelter. After that, interact with the smelter and go close to it to open the crafting menu. You should see an option to make Bronze Bars, normally requiring:
- Seven bars of Copper
- Three Tin Bars
- 10 Charcoal
Smelt and Wait: Smelt a recipe, then simply wait. The process will complete in whatever time your server settings determine but should take a few in-game minutes.
Bringing Your Arsenal to the Next Level: Uses for Bronze Bars
Crafted from the bars of bronze in your sweaty hands, now you can craft many a useful item:
Weapons: Bronze swords, axes, and maces do a lot more damage than their stone counterparts. Such weapons will help you slay tougher enemies and advance through the game.
Armour: Craft bronze helmets, chest plates, and greaves to defend against enemy attacks.
Tools: Bronze pickaxes and axes are more powerful and efficient than stone ones; therefore, the time taken to gather the resources will be minimal.
Depending on your server settings, the smelting time for making a bronze bar should be about a few minutes.
This is pretty rare, although you might find bronze bars as loot in chests or by defeating higher-level enemies. But, if these are the only sources you rely on, it's not recommended. Making your bronze bars is a more reliable way.
There's a mix of wood, stone, and bronze bars, which is the most common formula for making a bronze pickaxe. The exact recipe can vary and be influenced by improvements in the game.
Finally, stone tools and weapons are a viable option before acquiring bronze; they are less durable and deal less damage.
