In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to locate and conquer Glurch, the Abominous Mass, the challenging boss of the Dirt Biome in Core Keeper.
Locating Glurch the Abominous Mass
Glurch is in the Dirt Biome, which is where the player begins. It isn't very hard to find this large slime; it just requires a little digging. From the Core and centre of the map, dig in any one direction until you get a sense of periodic thumping. If you end up in a slimy tunnel, you've gone too far inside Ghorm's space.
Go back to the core and try digging in another direction. The thumping will lead you through to Glurch's lair, but beware, as getting too close will engage the fight immediately. Gear up before you go off facing Glurch.

How to Unlock Glurch
Glurch is available from the start of the game, so there’s no need for any special steps to unlock this boss.
Preparing for the Fight
First of all, learn to craft decently; in this case, the Basic Workbench, Furnace, Cooking Pot, and Copper Anvil. Make a farm to grow some Heart Berries and Bomb Peppers. You should also have a ranged weapon, which you can make with Tin from The Clay Caves. It's best to make at least two Slingshots.
Also, cook up to 10 Hearty Pepper Wraps—a mix of Heart Berry and Bomb Pepper—to increase your speed in the battle. If you can, at an Alchemy Table, brew some Healing Potions. A good set of items that gives immunity to slime's slowing effect is a Grub Egg Necklace and Larva Ring, but attaining this might be too difficult for the first time.
Preparing the Arena
After finding Glurch, build an arena by clearing out junk in an area of at least 30 blocks wide and 20 blocks tall so that there will be more room to move around. This is necessary because Glurch may break through most walls during the fight.
Strategies for Defeating Glurch
Ranged Combat: The safest method is using a Slingshot. Utilise the speed boost from a Hearty Pepper Wrap and dodge Glurch’s jumps, attacking after it lands. As Glurch's health decreases to 50%, it will become more aggressive. Maintain your distance and continue this pattern until you win.
Melee Combat: This approach is riskier, especially in the early game. If you opt for melee, move when Glurch jumps and strike it twice when it lands. Repeat until Glurch is defeated.
Explosives: Although bombs are available, this strategy is difficult and inefficient. It’s better to rely on the Slingshot for this battle.
Resummoning Glurch
Of course, Glurch can be summoned once again with the use of a Giant Slime Summoning Idol on its rune. You can buy these from the Backpack Merchant for 500 Ancient Coins. Alternatively, you could just create another world and get to fight Glurch again. In due time, you will have the ability to delete worlds when you're done with them.
