One of the most exciting features of Avowed is its huge range of unique items that help give players a chance to really tailor the game to their own experience. Indeed, there are many unique items in Avowed that allow you to level up and customize your character, and as a result, it’s well worth knowing about the different unique items in the game. The Last Light of Day sword is one such example, and today, we’re exploring where to find the Last Light of Day sword in Avowed and its unique features to help.
Before we start looking at where to find the Last Light of Day sword in Avowed, we should first start by considering what this unique item actually is. Simply put, the Last Light of Day sword is a unique weapon available in the early game of Avowed, making it one of the first weapons you’ll likely want to get hold of after setting up your secure, stable, and lag-free game on a private Avowed server.
Perhaps the most exciting features of the Last Light of Day sword are its two main enchantments: Golden Sun’s Ascent and Dawn’s Remembrance. The former provides the player with a 3% maximum health boost after killing an enemy, which is clearly a powerful ability for skilled players who don’t take much damage in combat. Meanwhile, the latter causes hits to deal 10% bonus damage by fire, further enhancing the weapon’s power. Definitely both great enchantments to keep in mind!
The Last Light of Day sword is also very powerful in its own right, even without investing in upgrades and enchantments. For example, the sword has a base physical damage of 32, going all the way up to an impressive 168. Meanwhile, it can deal up to 130 stun at once, further contributing to the sword’s overall impressive power. There’s also a 3% chance to critical with each hit. Notably, the Last Light of Day sword also takes quite a bit less stamina than other uniques, such as the Drawn in Winter axe. Given this, it’s easy to see how this sword might fit into your melee arsenal.
Now that we’ve considered the Last Light of Day’s features, enchantments, and stats, it’s time to consider how to get hold of it in the game. Fortunately, the sword is actually pretty easy to find, and the main game itself will actually lead you in the right direction to begin with.
Now, whereas many unique items in Avowed are found as a result of exploration, the Last Light of Day sword is a little different. Instead of simply stumbling across the sword, you’ll instead need to start a particular quest and progress through that to unlock it. The quest in question is given to you by Ofryc, who can be found standing just outside of the Embassy. After talking to him, you’ll be tasked with rescuing the Aedyran Expedition team.
To complete the mission, head northwest of Paradis to locate the Aedyran Expedition’s quest marker. Once you arrive, you’ll then need to find the entrance to the Pilgrim’s Path, following the route until you encounter Secgwin, who will be guarding the entrance to the Eothasian Temple. Convince her to let you pass, and then proceed to the end to retrieve the Splinter of Eothas. At this point, it’s generally a good idea to avoid activating the generators, as doing so will initiate a fight with Sargamis, who can otherwise be spoken to first.
Once you’re ready, talk with Sargamis and agree to place the Splinter on the Statue of Eothas. After pulling the lever, a cutscene will play; however, Saramis’ plan will fail, and you can then talk with him once more. At this point, you have a choice on how to proceed. You can opt for a peaceful resolution by encouraging Sargamis to sacrifice himself, stating, “The chime of an unknown godlike wouldn’t interest Eothas. It has to be you.” If you go this route, you can then electrocute him when he stands beneath the device to loot the sword from his body.
Alternatively, if you possess the necessary background-specific knowledge or intellect/perception attributes, you can persuade him to stop the experiment. This will allow for a discussion in his room, during which time he will hand over the Last Light of Day. However, you won’t have this option if you don’t meet the correct attribute requirements.
Finally, if you decide to go with a more aggressive approach, attacking Sargamis will lead to a challenging fight. However, you can still obtain the Last Light of Day sword from his body after.
The Last Light of Day sword used 11 stamina per swing, irrespective of the sword’s level.
The maximum damage that the Last Light of Day sword can do (as base physical damage) is 168 at Legendary +3. This also deals 130 stun.
If you’ve been looking for a premium sword in Avowed for your character, the Last Light of Day might be just what you need. Indeed, this powerful sword offers exceptional speed coupled with impressive damage, making it a powerful early game unique item. However, keep in mind here that there are also many other uniques in the game; following this thought, while the Last Light of Day sword is hugely powerful, it’s not the only weapon that might lend itself well to your gameplay.
