When selecting a weapon for your game of Valheim, understanding the key features of each option and how to craft them is paramount. However, in many cases, it’s not always easy to choose the ideal weapon, and this can leave people questioning which weapon will work best for their character build. Fortunately, though, this does not have to be an impossible decision to make, and there are plenty of incredibly powerful weapons in the game that can lend themselves well to your own gameplay style.
Just one such example is the Stagbreaker, an incredibly strong Valheim club that may well prove valuable for your own game. But what is the Valheim Stagbreaker, how does this unique club work, and how do you make the Stagbreaker? These are all questions we’ve outlined in today’s guide to help!
Firstly, it’s worth briefly looking at what the Stagbreaker is before we delve into the recipe used to craft it. As the very first two-handed club that unlocks in any new playthrough of Valheim, and the second dedicated club (looking past the torch), the Stagbreaker is immensely powerful, meaning that it can often be a hugely popular choice of club for many players.
Dealing a base of 20 blunt damage and 5 piercing damage, the Stagbreaer more than doubles the damage done by its predecessor, the basic club. In addition, when upgrading, the Stagbreaker can do anywhere up to 38 blunt damage and 5 piercing, further increasing its damage output significantly. As such, this is well worth keeping in mind if you’ve been looking to upgrade from your regular club to a stronger two-handed weapon.
In addition to dealing a significant amount of damage, the Stagbreaker also offers the benefit of dealing a huge amount of knockback, as well as causing 25 stagger. The club has a hitbox radius of 4 with a range of 2, and better still, there’s also no multi-target penalty. As such, it can be used on groups of enemies easily!
Now that we’ve briefly introduced the Stagbreaker, it’s time to look at how to craft this unique two-handed club. Fortunately, as the third club variant in the game - second if you count only the “true” clubs and disregard the torch - it also uses relatively early-game crafting materials and is made using the regular workbench. As such, after launching your new private game with ScalaCube’s premium Valheim hosting, which boasts 24/7 uptime and full DDoS security solutions, you’ll soon be able to look at crafting the Stagbreaker.
The basic recipe for the Stagbreaker requires three core materials: twenty core wood, five deer trophies, and two leather scraps. Both leather scraps and deer trophies can be found in the starting Meadows biome. However, the core wood is only sourced from pine trees, which can be found first in the Black Forest biome (either from pine trees directly or by growing a pine cone).
Once you’ve made the Stagbreaker at Level 1, you can upgrade this up to three times to reach a maximum of Level 4. To upgrade your Stagbreaker, you’ll need the following materials for the upgrade:
The Valheim Stagbreaker is a type of early-game two-handed club. This makes it one of the earliest clubs you can craft in the game, and it is notable for dealing an impressive amount of damage.
The Stagbreaker is a very strong weapon for its time, given that it becomes available in the early game. While the Stagbreaker likely won’t live up to late-game use, it’s undoubtedly still a powerful early-game option.
Unfortunately, you will need extra materials to upgrade the Stagbreaker to a higher level. These include more core wood, deer trophies, and leather scraps. In addition, you’ll also need bone fragments, a material that aren’t actually used in the basic crafting recipe.
If you’ve been looking for a powerful weapon to use for your character in Valheim, considering a club is definitely one of the strongest options - and the Stagbreaker, as the first two-handed club you’ll unlock, can definitely be a handy weapon to add. So, once you have unlocked the Black Forest biome, it may be worth thinking about whether this is the right approach for your own needs.
