Wisps. They’re incredibly useful for crafting in Valheim, and as a result, it’s well worth considering how you can get hold of more Valheim wisps. As part of this, the wisp fountain is a useful tool in Valheim - and today, we’re taking a look at what the wisp fountain is and how you can use it and craft it in your own game.
The wisp fountain is an incredibly useful base tool for your Valheim game, allowing you to collect wisps in the evening and overnight. The fountain itself is a rather ominous looking creation, with a stone body and an oozing purple fluid - presumably stemming from the torn spirit, which is used in the crafting of the fountain and shares a similar color to the liquid itself.
The wisp fountain can be placed in your base and, at nighttime, it will begin to collect wisps at a rate of one wisp every thirty seconds. Initially, the fountain displays text that “the wisps are coming.” However, this changes once the fountain is full to “the wisps are dancing.” Once the wisp fountain is full, you’ll then need to remove the wisps it’s collected in order to start the fountain working again. Generally speaking, the wisp fountain will collect up to a maximum of three wisps at a time. However, some players have occasionally reported the wisp fountain collecting more than three at once, which is usually expected to be due to a glitch or bug in the game.
Similarly, while you can place multiple wisp fountains, it’s important to space them out well; otherwise, the maximum number of wisps will be shared between nearby fountains. However, if you spread them out, you can collect far more at once. Playing a multiplayer game can make collecting the wisps from these spaced out fountains easier, with one player responsible for each fountain; however, to ensure your game runs smoothly in multiplayer mode, it’s highly recommended to start out by learning how to make Valheim server privately to enjoy 24/7 uptime and a lag-free gaming experience (no matter how many wisps your fountains collect).
Of course, it should be noted here that wisps only come out in the evening and at night; as such, your wisp fountains will be inactive during the day. After 6 pm, however, there’s a chance for the fountain to begin catching wisps. This applies in all weather conditions; indeed, don’t be put off by the wisps’ frail appearance - a little rain won’t stop them!
By now, we know what a wisp fountain is and that it uses a torn spirit - but how can you actually craft a wisp fountain? Well, worry not, as the wisp fountain is actually an incredibly easy item to make in Valheim, provided you have the right materials. In fact, all you need is ten stones and one torn spirit, and these can be crafted into a wisp fountain at a stonecutter. This will create a single wisp fountain, which can then collect up to three wisps at a time.
Now, getting hold of stone is pretty self explanatory; however, knowing where to find a torn spirit is much trickier. This stems back to the fact that torn spirits are only found in one place in the game: by defeating Yagluth, the fifth boss of the game who fittingly looks like a spirit infesting a long-decomposed skeleton. Yagluth is summoned with five Fuling totems at his Forsaken Altar in the Plains biome. Each time you defeat him, he’ll drop three torn spirits; however, you can summon him again if you’d like to make more wisp fountains.
To craft a wisp fountain in Valheim, there are several different materials you’ll need. The first of these is stone, which you’ll need ten of. In addition, you will need a single torn spirit.
Wisp fountains in Valheim have a cut off of three wisps collected at any one time. Given this, you’ll need to harvest the three wisps before your wisp fountain can collect any more.
Yes! If you would like to make multiple wisp fountains and have the resources to do so, you absolutely can do. However, you’ll need to ensure they’re well-spaced to ensure they all work efficiently. If the wisp fountains are close to each other, they will share the same maximum of three wisps collected.
If you’ve been looking to make use of wisps in your crafting efforts, it’s first crucial to ensure that you have built a wisp fountain for your base. Indeed, the wisp fountain serves as a crucial tool for attracting wisps, which allows you to collect and utilize them in your own game. But don’t forget - the wisp fountain in Valheim can only collect a small number of wisps at a time. As such, it’s important to retrieve the wisps regularly to maximize the number of wisps you can collect in an evening.
