There are many different types of weapons in Valheim. And, knowing how to choose between these is crucial. As part of this, not only do you need to understand the different weapon classes available but also whether you’d rather use a one handed or two handed weapon. In line with this thought, today, we’re looking at every type of two handed weapon in Valheim, from sledgehammers to two handed sword options and more, to help you find the right design for your needs.
First of all, we should start by considering which classes of weapons actually have two-handed varieties in the game. These include axes, clubs, swords, and knives (although these are technically dual-wielded). Given this, there are plenty of options for two-handed use - although many more weapon and tool types can only be used as a single-handed weapon.
By now, we’ve briefly clarified that there are several different types of two-handed weapons in Valheim. However, you may still be wondering which specific two-handed weapons you can unlock - and fortunately, we’ve summarized these as follows to help. Hopefully, this will help you find the right approach for your own game after investing in premium ScalaCube Valheim hosting for your new save, providing exceptional 24/7 uptime for all of your gaming needs.
The humble axe is one of the most commonly used types of weapons in Valheim, and there are plenty of two handed axes you could potentially use, including both two-handed versions and dual-wielded designs. The main two handed axes are the battleaxe and the crystal battleaxe; however, there are also several types of berserkir axes that are dual wielded, including the thundering Berserkir axe, the primal Berserkir axe, and the bleeding Berserkir axe. Naturally, the Berserkir axes deal the most damage of the different axe types, including 140+ slash damage and 80+ chop damage.
Two handed axes have a slightly larger range of 2.5 meters than one handed swords (2.2 meters). However, attack speed is marginally lower for two handed axes, and stamina multipliers for secondary attacks are lower at x0.5 than x2.
Another excellent voice of weapon is the club, which comes in three different types of two-handed style: the Stagbreaker, the Iron Sledge, and the Demolisher. The Demolisher is actually the most powerful type of club in the game, even though the one handed Flametal Mace technically is a later-game option. This goes to show the immense power of the two handed design. Furthermore, two handed clubs have perhaps the greatest range boost, with a 4 meter range compared to the regular 2.4 meter range.
Swords are an integral part of most Valheim players’ equipment builds, making them an incredibly important option for many people - and, as is common for many gear types, two-handed swords are often the most powerful. Two-handed swords include the Krom and the Slayer, the latter of which deals a whopping 170+ slash damage. This is significantly greater than the later-game one handed sword, Nidhogg, which only delivers 135 slash damage. Two handed swords in Valheim are useful thanks to their slightly greater attack range of 2.6 meters, which is slightly more than the base 2.4 meter range offered by one handed swords. Two handed swords also cause far more knockback.
Technically speaking, knives don’t have two-handed weapons as opposed to having two-handed variants (in other words, carrying one knife in each hand). In fact, there is only one type of dual-wielded knife in Valheim, which is the Skoll and Haiti. This knife deals 45 slash and 45 piercing damage, making it the most powerful knife in the game by far. It also deals far more stagger effect, making it an excellent way to make taking on tricky foes easier.
Two handed weapons typically have better damage and stagger than comparable level one handed weapons in Valheim. However, they are prone to reducing movement speed more and also prevent you from using a shield or torch, making it an important consideration to weigh up.
The best two handed sword in Valheim is the Slayer, which deals 170 slash damage or higher. However, it does have a high stamina requirement of 20-40, which makes it a little trickier to use.
The Stagbreaker in Valheim is a two handed club with a primary attack only. The club is made from twenty core wood, five deer trophy, and two leather scraps.
The Krom in Valheim is a two handed sword. It has a weight of 4, a durability of 200, and a stagger and knockback of 150 and 55 respectively.
The best two handed sledgehammer in Valheim is generally considered to be the Demolisher, which deals 145 or more blunt damage. This two handed sledgehammer is incredibly strong and even one of the strongest weapons overall in the game.
If you’ve been looking to add new weapons to your load-out of equipment in Valheim, there are plenty of different options you could consider - and two handed weapons could potentially be very useful for your own character. However, it’s worth noting here that, while two-handed weapons can often be very useful, they do come with their drawbacks; namely, you can’t use a shield or a torch with them, and you’ll also have a lower movement speed to contend with. So, be sure to keep this in mind when planning your own character’s weapon selection.
