You may notice that they are very unique, but slightly resemble flamingoes (they are not the same, though). The Gem Birds Stardew Valley appear in a few set locations across Ginger Island, and you can only find them in rainy conditions, so if it is sunny out, don’t waste time searching for them!
In addition to this, it’s worth keeping in mind here that the Gem Birds can appear all across the island, including to the North, South, East, and West. As such, if you have not unlocked the rest of Ginger Island yet, it may not be worth actively searching for the gem birds.
What Colors are the Gem Birds in Stardew Valley?
You can find Stardew Valley Gem Birds in five different colors, each corresponding to a different type of gemstone found within the game. These include the red ruby, blue aquamarine, green emerald, yellow topaz, and purple amethyst. Where can Gem Birds Be Found in Stardew Valley?
Gem birds in Stardew Valley are exclusively found on Ginger Island, and there are only four locations where they can turn up. These are as follows: - To the South of the island, northwest of the dock
- To the East of the island, near to the path in the middle area
- To the North of the island, above the Island Trader
- To the West of the island, near to the pond

You can be lucky enough to find gem birds in any of these locations, and it is possible that they are in an area that you have not unlocked yet. So, if the weather is rainy and you cannot find them, it's highly possible they are in one of your locked areas.
Each of these locations ties in with the hidden pedestals found near Leo’s house. These pedestals represent part of the secret Gem Bird puzzle, which we’ll look at briefly in a moment.
What do Stardew Valley’s Gem Birds Give?
Stardew Valley’s Gem Birds are unlike many of the other birds; they don't provide feathers or eggs. But, they are extremely valuable as they drop gemstones correlating to their color, which can be used to solve the puzzle, in the Stardew Valley Gem Bird shrine.Solving the Gem Bird Puzzle

As we’ve already mentioned, the Gem Bird puzzle can be found near Leo’s house, where four pedestals stand empty. This puzzle is actually relatively simple to solve; all you need to do is place a gemstone of the corresponding type on the correct pillar. Each pillar represents a specific location; for example, if you found the purple gem bird at the beach, you’ll need to place an amethyst on the beach pillar.
Don’t panic if you’ve lost or sold the original gemstone the gem bird left you! Any gemstone of the correct type will do. However, you will need to get the combination of gems correct. Luckily, this can actually be worked out through trial and error, even if you forget where you saw each gem bird. With that being said, this can be somewhat tricky to work out, so it’s probably better to solve the gem bird puzzle each time you find a gem bird rather than trying to guess it.
Of course, nothing is more frustrating than finding a gem bird in the game, only for your server to crash and your progress to reset. Luckily, by using a reliable Scala Cube Stardew Valley private server, you can overcome this struggle, enjoying 24/7 uptime and a lag-free game experience.
